I took a picture  of my crank and Carrillos.
Does that count.  ;D

Those rods are pure mechanical porn Mick, I can understand why you haven't installed them into an engine yet, if I had them, I'd want them on the outside of my engine! Funnily enough, I have seen engines with conrods on the outside, but they don't look anywhere as nice, for some reason? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Any Idea where I can get me hands on a speedo drive for a late model 900 boldor or cb1100f, must be for an 18 inch front wheel  ..?

Attn.: retro rocket

If you find anything on this side of the pond, I can get it for you, mailing it to you with domestic USPS mail.

http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2055119.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xtachoantrieb+cb900+honda.TRS0&_nkw=tachoantrieb+cb900+honda&_sacat=0

Thanks Wobbly, I've seen most of those, problem is that they are for the 19 inch wheel, I need drive for the 18 inch front thats only on the late CB750F2C and CB1100F with the boomerang comstars, not the US model with mag wheels, CMSNL has one but they want 94.50 Euro for it... ???

Rode her...she's still a bit of a rat bike but she's mine. :)

78F and partly sunny during the day with lows ~65F at night.

We've had some sweet riding weather in H-Town this winter...never had to put the liner in my vented jacket so far.

Cheer,

Ditched the original rear fender, taillight and signals for a fender eliminator, LED taillight and MUCH smaller signals.  Dropped a lot of weight in the process too!  I love how it turned out, but it appears that I need to introduce more black to the front end.  Will probably end up removing the original fender & stays... then modify a spare that I have... maybe by removing the brace and bolting the brace on a smaller, black plastic fender?  Suggestions anyone?

went to the local hardware superstore and bought a conveniently sized piece of galv plated water pipe which then got transported to my mates lathe equipped shed where new front wheel spacers were made up to eliminate that pesky speedo drive so that twin disciness can be achieved.

now waiting for anogher mate to turn up so we can change the arse ugly comstars back out of my (spare) bike and put the proper wire wheels back in as he's decided he wants the comstars back in his bike.......

in the meantime, theres a fridge full of beer and cider to keep me company, the missus is cooking dinner (for a change) and that just leaves looking at bikes in the garage and trying to empty said fridge

a good day, all in all

Ha ha, you're such a priick Sean, I just sprayed JD and Coke all over my keyboard, you probably just broke that kids heart! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

sent my mate on his way with his butt ugly comstars after re-installing proper wire wheels back in the spare bike. also sold him the CB900 'clip-ons' and CB1100calipers that Bikeboy sold me with the CB900 forks for the same price i paid for the lot...win, plus those parts will now get used instead of just sitting in my shed. he's building a 750K6 into a track bike

also drank quite a lot of beer, so another win then

I'd like a bobbed metal front fender. Would still resemble stock, but tailored to be cohesive with your other changes. Unlike Sean, I like the look of your bike. Different strokes perhaps...

Sounds good!  Was looking more for front end suggestions, but I appreciate your honesty and eloquence.

Haha!  Naw.... I don't get butt-hurt by forum posts. Sean is entitled to his own opinion, whether or not it was fueled by a case of Boone's Farm wine.  I like the original classic look as well, which is why I keep every takeoff from this bike to return back to stock.  Just going to try something different for awhile.

Thanks Cal... We can always count on you to provide some constructive feedback, whether or not you agree with the direction of the project.  Since I have a spare front fender that is in fairly rough shape.... I will probably end up bobbing it.  What would your take be on powdercoating it?

To me, it looks as though the seat and replacement fender are long enough, that skunk striping would be negligible if not avoided unless riding in rather nasty weather.

If the chrome is trashed, you could use a silver Ceramic powder coat. Less brilliant, equally shiny, and far more durable. If you opt for a different color, then I'd steer towards a satin black.

Yeah, I have no concern about a "mud skunk stripe."  This bike is only used for quick trips when the weather is perfect and roads are completely dry.  Will be adding taller rear Hagons prior to riding season.  That may help a bit more.

The chrome isn't great on the spare fender, but we will see what it looks like after I bob it.  Thanks again, Cal!

I was sure I had a problem with ball bearing in lower case. It LOOKED like bearing had moved out. But a check on other side showed it sit tight against the stop.

After reading about improving the fork brace stiffness by 20% in here, I solid mounted my fender. I removed the rubber grommets from my fender-fork mounting holes, found a couple of spring washers that fitted exactly in the grommet holes to reduce the size and reinstalled the two bolts with a washer under each big enough to cover the grommet hole so the bolts would hold the brace tightly to the fork. Went for a 60 mile ride and I think it does feel a tad better! John
