Thanks Steve, no, only 582 pounds mate and of course the luggage is removable, so a comfy "Sports Tourer" with a top speed of around 150 MPH. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Helluva lot more comfortable too  :D

If I ever replace my ex-Harley I'd consider a Beemer K1200GT/K1300GT. Comfort and silence will go a long way now. Damn, I miss the Fat Boy!!
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Yeah mate, I think you'd like the 1600cc 6 cylinder BMW, the engine's not out there like a CBX, it's only as wide as a CB750, but with1600cc's of modern technology, would be an incredible mile eater. If you buy another carb'd Harley, do yourself a favour and install a Mikuni HSR42 and some free flowing pipes Jerry, and you'll be surprised how fast it'll go! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Replaced a 3 1/2 year old Ballistic EVO2-8 battery I got off my dirtbike with a new Scorpion LiFePO battery and all of my questionable voltages and concerns over the charging system disappeared! The headlight even burns bright at an idle! :)

Rode with a buddy up to CycleGear for the monthly biker hotdog and burger night. The old CB got a lot of attention and questions among the new dirtbikes, sportbikes & HD's. Had a blast it was really my first event or gathering I've gone to with this bike. :)

Pretty much have the bike sorted out where I confident to take some road trips. She's still a bit ratty but don't care, too much fun not to ride in between the projects I have planned. I finally feel like a member to the community.

Cheers,

Thanks Eric, that's an FJR1300 with around 145 BHP, so it should get down the road nicely. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Is that the XJR1300 engine in a different frame?

Stripped, derusted, etched and Kreemed the tank.

One tiny hole right in front of the cap at the welded seam. I had another bike that had a pinhole in almost the same spot.

Took a photo of the original paint before I threw the stripper on it;

G'Day Cliff, no mate, when Yamaha designed the FJR1300 they built a whole new engine, it's water cooled, shaft drive, fuel injected, etc etc. Here's a pic. ;D

Ha ha, thanks Mick, I had the courage to tell the wife, and she was more pissed off that we have to drive 200 miles each way to Horsham and back to collect it, so once again, I'm in the clear! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I've had good luck with Kreem before, not so good with the Eastwood stuff but didn't have much tank to work with.
Caswell stuff looks good, thanks for the tip.

Kreme's fine if you do the prep properly, does the kit still come with a bottle of MEK? That stuff works brilliantly, but is so dangerous I think I'd be too frightened to use it nowadays. I've just bought a new larger tank for my Harley Sportster which needs to be sealed before it's painted, but I've got a POR-15 kit sitting here that I didn't use on a BMW tank I de-rusted last year, so that'll do, I've had good results with it. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Bought 2 pints Kreem, didn't buy the prep kit. De-scaled then etched with muratic acid, neutralized, then dried with acetone, immediately poured in the Kreem. The metal was a uniform light grey color when I put in the sealer.

Purchased an electrical impact wrench today. My CB750 was in need to get some... I'll use it when changing wheels on my car..winter to summer and opposite.

The alternator sat really hard.
A cheap impact wrench for car wheels and a friend standing on the crank helped. It had to hammer 10-20 sec until the bolt slowly left the crank.
Next was with the puller bolt, 30mm socket. The other way with the impact wrench. Alternator just popped off.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/331785142396?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

450Nm, 1010W was not too much. The bolt was glued with loctite. Theres is an oil seal inside to be replaced with the other seals. This seal had been sitting there since 1983.

Thanks to this thread where I got the idea. A must have tool for the garage.

Quite a bit.... for me.

1) Installed Hagons... This probably goes without saying, but the ride difference from the original Showas is absolutely night and day. Money well spent.

2) Swapped in a tach that was acquired from member: jamesb  Thanks again Jimmy!  I now know what I pretty much assumed before.... I redline nearly every shift.

3) Replaced the clock bulbs with green LED replacement bulbs from superbrightleds.  Nice green glow now..... like it.

4) Dropped the exhaust so I could change oil and drop the oil pan... the pan hadn't been removed since I bought the bike in 12/14.  No surprises, which is nice.  Cleaned up the sludge... cleaned the sump screen... cleaned all of the caked grime off the pan exterior... reinstalled with a new OEM pan gasket.  Reinstalled exhaust.

5) Fired it up for the first time in 2016.... rode about 20 miles.... no leaks.  Very good, productive day.
