Well what a great day! This morning Cliff brought his little pickup over (we call them "utes" in Oz, but I don't think my Seppo brothers would understand if I said that Cliff brought his "Ute" over) to collect the Yamaha FJ1200 and my big black 'Wang", that I donated to his charity, "Good Deed Garage".

We loaded the GL1200 onto his ute, and I rode the FJ1200 and followed Cliff to his place, where we unloaded the 'Wang then came back to drop me off, and I also gave him another GL1200 engine, plus a GL1000 frame and wheels, so he can get his creative juices flowing building some weird Steampunk/Bobber/Brat/Tracker creation.

Anyway, with a little more space in my garage (only 6 complete bikes and 2 CB750 "projects" in there now) I'll be able to park my Harley Sportster in there, and my 1969 CB750 K0 as well. The weather was great, sunny and 66 deg F, so I fired the Harley up, and I had a great ride, then stopped at my local Returned Servicemen's League (RSL) club and played a poker machine while drinking alcoholic ginger beer, and won a hundred bucks, woohoo!

I got home, and decided to get some chicken for dinner, and while I was sitting in the drive thru my mate Fred rang me and offered me a complete K2 (in bits, of course) for 1000 bucks, and he's also throwing in a brand new, NOS K0 tach, still in the original box. So much for making more room in my garage, but at least it'll be nice to have another CB750 in there. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I know its going to a good cause but did you get chocked up just a little bit when Cliff loaded up the Wang. Looks like your getting stocked up on CB750's though ;) I bet that new KO tach is purdy 8)

So that space you created by donating two bikes just got filled up with three bikes?

Well done mate!

Ha ha, maybe a little bit Dwight, I'd forgotten how nice the FJ1200 is to ride, and was impressed with how well it started after sitting for so long. (I haven't ridden it this year) Oh well, it's all for a good cause. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Just so you all know - that Terry bloke in Australia has a huge heart of gold.

Thanks to Terry's generosity, the charity I run called Good Deed Garage now has a Yamaha FJ1200 and a Honda Goldwing 1200 to sell. The money will be used partially to finish the current Good Deed Garage project - a Z500 street tracker. This bike is to be raffled off later in the year with all raffle money donated to the Make a Wish Foundation - a children's charity.

Money left over from the sale of the two bikes will be used to kick off the next Good Deed Garage project.

Thanks again Terry - I don't think my ute has recovered yet from moving the Goldwing, it is still sitting like there is a ton of bricks in the back!

If anyone here wants to follow the Good Deed Garage journey - go here (and like): https://www.facebook.com/Good-Deed-Garage-378561935675620/?ref=bookmarks

Well gee Terry - that took no time.

Look what you can do in an afternoon to a stock GL1200 if you have some old car parts lying about.

Ha ha, it looks lovely Cliff, only that's a GL1000, if you take all the plastic of a GL1200, it's not a good look........... ;D

Thanks Larry, it tugs on the old heart strings to see them go, but honestly I'd rather give them away to charity than sell them, I love buying old bikes, but selling old bikes is a PITA. Cheers, Terry. ;D

.made a kontrol test..use klear fuelline..and it vas a bit more presise..have no idea vhy air leak/cut off point..not is more presise then fuel line test??

made a video.
.but the micro vas not taken the air vhissling..but it vas easy to find/hear,, the cut point...and use a caliber to make the messuring

Replaced a bad condensor, no more arcing on the 2-3 point!  It was so bad i was getting arcing from the spring portion of the point, across to the backing plate.  All fixed up now, bad "new" condensor out of a cheapo "rebuild kit".  Bike runs smoother than ever now, although it was already pretty good.  Capable of holding a steady 500 rpm idle although of course I idle it at more like 1000.

Also replaced a faulty oil pressure sending unit, no more flickering oil light at hot idle.  Bad unit would trip at 15 lbs or so, instead of 5-7 as intended.

Re-positioned an exhaust heat shield which was fouling up on the rear brake pedal, was wondering why rear brake performance seemed so poor!  ::)

Managed to get in a few miles too, great weather here today!

I rebuilt the front wheel of my Cb500 k2.  It has new powder coat and new stainless spokes. Installed All Balls sealed bearings and installed a brand new bearing retainer. Painted the inner portion of my front disc brake and reinstalled it. Polished my front brake bracket.

Thanks guys.
Well, there's certainly smarter, faster, easier, and better ways but I stripped off the remaining clear coat with aircraft stripper then I wet sanded with 600 (probably should have started with 400) then moved up to 800 and then 1000.
Then on to the HF buffing wheel with white compound, then blue, and finally Mothers Mag polish.
(Cleaned the pieces with solvent between compounds and a separate wheel for each compound.)
The round alternator cover I wet sanded up to 1000 with no buffing. I like the contrast.
I'm going to clear coat the cover after I clean it up.
The rest of the aluminum I don't clear coat. Although one of these days I may buy a paint gun.

The aluminum on my 750 took much less work.
Honda's had a better finish from the factory (imho)and probably had better clear coat as well.
(....and were just better bikes.)   ;)

The XS650 fork lowers are particularly bad. Only the outsides were really polished.
The insides are pretty rough.
I've already spent a lot of time on them and I'm still not happy.
Polishing really sucks. I really hate it. But I'm too cheap to pay someone to do it better.

Since Steve-O busted my chops for mounting the shocks enfield GT style, I took em off and had the local race car shop set the nitrogen pressures before putting em on right side up.

Next to do, rockerbox replacement.  Then onto fork service and head bearing replacement.
