I had mine in the toolbox, but need of OEM tools made me to place it over the battery. I had a shorter 14Ah battery but changed to 11Ah model to ensure space for the box and extra relays as spares.

Edit: I have wrapped the module with vulc tape as vibr reducer and eventual battery post contact. I do not know how warm the module will become efter hours of driving and if the tape will cause high temp for the electronics.

One more thing: The green ground cable is very important. Mine was one piece from module to point plate. I cut the wire parallel to the yellow and blue plugs when I pulled the engine last winter. Easier to disconnect all 3 wires.
I did not crimp the plugs correctly so the green did not have contact. The ignition really worked bad then.

Installed the M bars I got last week, lubed the throttle cables and confirmed what I suspected, that in addition to all the other upgrades a PO did, he also installed an electronic ignition, although I am not familiar with this brand.

Now I need to install the Lucas style tail light and original rear turn signals and for David Silver to ship me my replacement clutch cable so I can replace it before I leave for Rockerbox on Friday.

Thanks CR. I Googled it after my post and found instruction in a couple places and saved them to my computer. Seems to work just fine, bike fires right up. Just needed to confirm how to find TDC with it so I can tension my cam chain and check my valves.

Finished the POR15 tank sealing process on my CB500. Now wait four days for the urethane to cure.

For the time being. That's actually a different one that the one on the bike when I got it. I need to make a better mount

Picked up a very incomplete '74 550 that has a free motor (which is a '75 - according to the model guide).... and some sweet bars!!!

Also grabbed a spare '76 550 stuck motor.... which is stamped 16 numbers earlier than my other '76 motor.

Pulled off the rocker box on the free motor and I thought things looked pretty decent. But then again... I have no idea what the hell I'm looking for.

Quick question:

For the carbs on my '74 CB550, is there a way I can adjust the needle clip position with the carbs on the bike?

I have everything buttoned down pretty well but am having some lack of power from idle to 1/3 throttle (idle screws are @ 1.5 turns out) so I thought it might be them, but I don't want to pull the carbs to get to them?

Nasty.... It can be done. Takes about an hour if you get good at it. But keep in mind, you will need a vac sync after you get everything back together. Good luck and take it slow.

Have you verified your carb settings with plug chops?

Thoe Marteks are fantastic mate, I'd rather one of them than any other EI on the market today. I fitted one to my Suzuki GS750 years ago, and I wound down the throttle to the point where it was idling quite happily at only 200 RPM. I installed another one on my GS1000, and the difference between it and the OEM EI were like night and day. I've been trying to find a pic I posted here years ago of it firing a plug, with Dyna coils it produced a huge blue spark. I must find another one for one of my CB750 projects. Good stuff. Finally assembled and installed the new head for my 2007 Yamaha Vino 125 scooter flip project. I was able to get it to run briefly before I had to shut down for the evening.

The 2nd photo shows why I had 2 replace the head, 2 bent valves! The replacement head plus 2 valves and seals was abt $220

Yep. Scooter goes first, then when it's gone I will figure out what I am going to do with the Harley. I still think I should get it running then sell it as a running project, but I don't know if I will have the time.

Wife needs mulch for her gardening efforts; could carry much of that sihte on Red.

This screw stripped out on my K2.

Re-threaded it with M6x1.00 thread and used a new bolt instead. I couldn't find anything close to the original thumb screw that would fit in between the throttle cables.

Verified dynamic timing. It was a bit off... Probably due, again, to the old condensors being replaced by the HondaMan module.

Setting off on a 1000KM journey over two days tomorrow.

Going to rain most of the time though. OH WELL. Adventure is adventure, no matter the weather!

I managed to break 3 out of 4 float bowl drain plugs off at the head. Leaving the threads still in the bowl. So to vent my frustration I polished the crap out of the float bowls. Came out pretty nice!
