Depends on what you mean by tall. But in the US the bikes came with taller bars than the European SOHC4's and a lot of owners don't like them and go with what is commonly known as superbike bars, which are 2-3 inches lower than the typical OEM US spec bar, but not flat like drag bars or below the triples like clubmans and clip-ons.

I think that the rise on OEM bars is in the 4 inch range

The PO put some cafe' bars on my K4, but included the originals. I was planning to revert back to them. Were the tall ones stock or aftermarket? Are they replicas to OEM spec?

The taller bars which came on my '78 cb750K bike were stock on that vintage K bike. Comfortable, but a bit higher than I liked. I tried the superbike bars and had problems with my wrists. They looked great, but were not comfortable for very long. I found these replica bars at 4into1, installed them, got my cables routed to where everything works smoothly and then rode it. I like them very much. They are about 2" less rise than the bars that came on my bike which I think were stock for '77/'78.

Question is how hot should the oil be at, at full warmed up ?

Ha! Thanks BomberMann650! I think the quilted maple accentuated the mids and gave a nice upper end clarity!!

I got the valves back in after the valve lappage. Made a ghetto spring compressor with a bar clamp and a cut up piece of copper pipe. Worked great. The valve looks scratched in the pic but it is just a bit of grease.

After the camshaft swap, different valve cover install and a 20 mile ride the other day.... I went back and re-checked my tappet clearances. 1 needed further adjustment, so I took care of that. Turned on the fuel tap and #1 and #2 started spitting out fuel out of the overflows. I rapped on the bowls a few times, but this didn't correct the problem. This has never happened to me.... So, I drained the bowls and clear tubed them again. They checked out good and didn't spit out of the overflows anymore. Put the drain plugs back on and all is good. Strange to me that the 1 & 2 floats would get stuck at the same time like that.

Anyways... all was good, so I went out for a warmup ride in advance of re-syncing the carbs as I was experiencing some gearbox chatter. Carbs synced and went out for another 20 miles... no gearbox chatter and the thing has never run better. Going out for another 80 miles tonight..... can't wait!

Probably just some debris in your gas.
When bumping the carb back plate doesn't stop the flow, crack open the bowl drain screw, and allow it to flow for a second.
This usually washes out whatever is blocking the float valve.

Paid for the used stock 550F seat I bought from eBay yesterday. It a local sale, so no shipping, I am going to pick it up Saturday. I paid $100, which I think is fair since a new one would run me at least $200+shipping. Based on the photos the seat is in good shape with one small lengthwise split in the cover that I can likely deal with short-term with black duct tape. Ultimately I will get a replacement cover.

Whats really fun is when all 4 floats get stuck open because (name redacted) Fuel System cleaner also cleaned any lubricants from the float needle!

You've been lucky Sean, I've had heaps of electrical failures on CB750's, usually caused by fried stators and crappy regulator/rectifier combo's, not to mention crispy 40(+) year old wiring, dud coils, dodgy points, coil leads arcing in the wet, etc etc.

When I rebuilt Mike's bike I used all new wiring, switches, new coils and leads etc, and it actually charges the battery, and starts first prod of the button. That's got to be a "lessons learned" for anyone rebuilding a CB750, throw that crappy old wiring away and replace it all with nice new electrics, and you won't be pissed off...........

I wouldn't have removed the thing for adjustment. If not for the fact I rode home by moonlight yesterday. Lights were on, but I've seen farther in the dark with a bic lighter.

I read thru some twotired posts, opened the manual and set to work. After testing the stator/coil, it turned out the vreg was makin trouble for me.
