You've been lucky Sean, I've had heaps of electrical failures on CB750's, usually caused by fried stators and crappy regulator/rectifier combo's, not to mention crispy 40(+) year old wiring, dud coils, dodgy points, coil leads arcing in the wet, etc etc.
When I rebuilt Mike's bike I used all new wiring, switches, new coils and leads etc, and it actually charges the battery, and starts first prod of the button. That's got to be a "lessons learned" for anyone rebuilding a CB750, throw that crappy old wiring away and replace it all with nice new electrics, and you won't be pissed off...........
