Crappy shot of clear-coat on the underside of my tank - but it'll keep it from rusting away - new clutch adjuster mech at the handle, tappet adjustment, oil change, check points and plugs.  Steel wool and scrubbing.

Basics - it's summertime - and the tourists are out in force.

Finally got around to powder coating the custom bracket that mounts the back of my tank and the froot of my seat.  Glossy black is very hard to photograph!
It took 10 years but she's finally done!

Looks very cool.   $900 is not such a crazy number for that rare bike.

Decided to try and start the 550.   I was tired of sanding the side covers.   Son and I were in the driveway.  It was quiet and he was working on his skateboart ramp.  Cleaned the petcock, filled the tank, got fuel flowing to all bowls.   New batt cranks it over easy......POW!!!!  The biggest backfire from #4.   My son thought someone shot a gun.  I thought he'd pissed his pants.   Tried again, and even a bigger backfire.   He ran inside...lol.   I guess ive got some tune-up items to revisit.  ::)

Rode the 750 to see my pops.

I took the 836 bike off the stand it got it's Pamco and is ready for action. I replaced the fork gaiters on the sandcast. I'll probably have to do them again in 47 years.

Determined for the 8,000th time that I'm an idiot and sometimes don't pay any attention to detail.  Now, I'll elaborate.

Went to clean/adjust my drive chain last night as it was too slack.  Spun the rear wheel and noticed a clunk around the front sprocket.  Removed the side cover to determine the problem.  Apparently the last time I installed my chain after cleaning/lubing... I put the master link spring clip on the inside... therefore it was rubbing on the engine case each rotation.  No noticeable damage at this point, so I should be fine.  No idea why I would have done this... as it isn't easy to deal with when the clip is on the inside.  Anyways... I guess my mileage should improve without any added friction.  ***forehead slap***

Facepalm moment  ::)  yeah.  Thanks jonda.
I haven't had time to work on it, but I've been re-thinking my steps, and I really can't recall making sure the alignment marks were facing each other after de-rusting the advance unit.  :-\  That'll be the first thing I check this evening.

Check also that cyl 1&4 are firing off the coil with the BLUE wire and that, if you are running points, the BLUE wire is on the 1-4 points.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

More not-Honda not-four work!
Rebuilt the controls, the seat lock, the front blinkers, put on the bars and the headlight bucket.
Figured out why the headlight bucket was screwed up. Someone lost the "special" washers needed to properly mount the headlight bucket with the signals. Cost me $12 for new grommets.  :(
Fortunately the bike came with a spare set of signals that still had the "special" washers. Lucked out there.
Ready to hang the harness now.
Starting to look like a bike again.. :D

That old Yam is looking like new mate, well done! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
