With timing and advance correct, you'll need to dig into proper A/F mixture, starting with your idle circuit.

I drug home another 75 750, much of this was in a barn, I have a new low opinion for barn finds. Rodents destroy almost everything of value.

Well I did the static timing per the install sheet and manual instructions(light on at the F mark and on the outside advance mark with the rotor turned clockwise, all good, triple checked both coils/sides),unfortunately I don't have a timing light atm... as for the idle circuit, these are the dreaded 42b Keihin carbs with the pressed in slow jets.

I can't find someone who has them in stock atm, in order to replace them for the set-up of pods/kerker/quiet cone I have...I drilled the existing #40's and each size bigger got a positive result in starting / idle(would not idle at all with stock jet size)... Just don't want to go too far until I have replacements in hand, holes were .043" stock and are now .057"( and I've read all the posts about drilling vs boring etc... this is just to get the size right first time out I hope!!) At 1.5 turns out on the pilot jet, bike has to warm up in order to idle and I have to turn the idle screw up to get a good idle speed, then I have to keep lowering it until I finally get the fully warmed speed set and it's stable as long as i'm riding, if it cools fully, start all over. Today after a short ride I turned the pilots out(richer) starting from#2 to 3 turns and the idle went up so I matched ,1,3,4.. but I found  have 2 dripping oil leaks that just started that I need to remedy, hence...

I need a little info If you know, I've put about 400 miles on since r and r ing the top end, replacing all gaskets / o-rings/ seals etc.. Do you know if it's possible to remove the valve cover and re-torque the head while in the stock frame? (my guess is no...) would like to stop the leaks hittinf the exhaust before I cover it in oil and suffocate from the smoke/fumes  :o

oh and I want to change the o-rings on the pilot jets, do you happen to know what size they are? I put Honda kits in but I buggered 2 of the o rings and had to keep 2 old ones...

Put the pipe down, crack  ;D
Drilling jets will never be accurate and even with PODS, you'll rarely need more than 42's, which equates to .42mm.
Anything other than OEM keihins will cause all sorts of tuning issues.  stick with Keihins.

Jetsrus.com has all these keihins jets, including the press-in pilot jets you'll need.

Also....be sure your fast idle cam and accel pump are in working order.
They are there to assist with cold starts, among other things.  They work well if they are kept up.

Unless you have a frame kit, the engine needs to be pulled to re-torque.

How do I move it and I'd be happy to, or do I just start a new one in the other spot?

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yea mate, I've got enough bits to put together 4 or 5 more CB750's, but seriously, what's the point? They're over-priced and underwhelming compared to modern bikes that are just so much more exciting to ride. I think I'll restore my 1969 K0, and sell off the rest. I do have to sell some of my other bikes too, I think I can be happy with only 4 or 5 all up, but which 4 or 5? Decisions, decisions...... ;D

Funny you mention english beer, i'm real tempted to order a mini keg of "Trooper" iron maiden Ale for a few euros.  Try the piss and use the keg for a headlight bucket.

What did I do on my bike today?

A clutch cable.

At least that is what it feels like - I gained a whole lot of lever free play half way through my ride home and the clutch was engaging on the slightest lever release. So my first theory is that a few strands have given way in the cable and the remaining connected strands have stretched.

I will have a look tomorrow afternoon, but I got straight online and ordered a new one tonight anyway.

Today it was +8 in Edmonton Canader and I took the restored Jap market '71 out and went for a ride with my son on my/his 1970 R5 350 Yamaha twin. We had an absolute blast and the 71 runs like a dream...just left the factory by the feel of it......
Steering is a little stiff after I re torqued the top nut but that will be fixed tonight ready for another +8 day tomorrow and +10 and no snow on Friday.......watch me fly on probably the last ride of the year...

For $21 euros, the keg graphic is prolly the best part.

You have to be an iron maiden fan to appreciate the novelty.
