You feeling your age Terry?

You have created the ultimate "cool kid hipster. Don't give a rats hat others think" street fighter front fairing.

You can go cruising down Chapel Street at night now.

Just be sure to wear your rip off Rossi leathers and rev the engine non stop as you sit in traffic.

and the headlight shroud doesn't cover the lower triple or hide the wiring/cables.

By maduncle statement I'd call that a win

Geez as much as I like my 100 BHP VTR1000, I'd be happy to swap it for the 500 BHP 'Busa! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

These kind of riders piss me off  -   Last summer I was going down the highway minding my business (going about 70),  and one of these type of dudes went past me crossing lanes right in front of me.  The air turbulence was almost like when passing a semi truck. Made the 750 shake.  He must have been going at least 140 or more.  I looked in my rear view mirror a second before, and there was nothing (it was a big sweeping curve), a second later my bike is twitching from the wake.  Barely saw the guy.  Go to friggin track day if you want to drive like an axx.

Yep, I look at crashed bikes on eBay from time to time and I wonder what happened to the riders, with some of the damage these bikes sustain, the injuries must be horrific! ;D

Well, I unfarked my shock setup and spent some time considering what to do about the solo seat.

Also have a buddy who is willing to take on my pop's old yammie triple as a winter project while he's between jobs.

Well what a day. I took my Sporty for a 150 mile ride. I hadn't intended to, but have you ever had one of those days where you were enjoying your ride so much that you just kept going? The weather was great, sunny and around 70 deg F, the bike was running perfectly, and I had tons of time, so everything just fell into place.

I'd had a problem last time out with a plugged breather in the fuel cap, so with the new "Drag Specialties" lockable cap fitted, it was no longer an issue. I had a couple of "First's" too, the bike has just turned over 5000 miles (not a great deal for a 22 year old bike) and with the minor mods I've done (carb, exhaust and higher gearing with the 18" rear wheel I installed) it hit 100 MPH for the first time in it's life.

In fact, it was getting very close to 120 @ 6000 RPM, before I rapidly backed off when I saw a suspicious looking car coming towards me, that turned out not to be a cop car, but "Careful" is my middle name, which is why I've still got my license........

My brother died in June last year and I've been meaning to put his Triumph Rocket III on the road and get it registered here in Victoria. Last time I rode it was either July or August 2015, just before I started working in Canberra. Not surprisingly, it was covered in crap:

I drained the 2 year old fuel out of the tank (and tipped it in my son's Ford Explorer, being an American truck it's designed to run on low octane gas, so while the Rocket wouldn't have liked it, the Ford loves it) and filled it with fresh fuel, and I was super impressed that it fired up right away! The battery is 10 years old this year and still cranks it over fine, and with fresh fuel, it ran great. I decided to give it a wash, and I have to say that for a 10 year old bike, (with only 7500 miles on the odo) it still looks pretty good.

Tomorrow I'll pump the tyres up, go get a Roadworthy certificate, then to VICROADS (the DMV) to pay them a ridiculous amount of money to make it all legal and get a new number plate. Should have enough time for a nice ride afterwards! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I paid 125$ to change ownership and plate a bike yesterday. Seems insane to me.

As far as the rocket goes, I don't like the wheels. Same as the Valkyrie. I know, it's a stupid thing to let interfere with purchasing a bike, but to me it makes all the difference.

You know Steve, I've never even thought about those wheels, but yeah, you're right. I might see if I can get some wire spoked wheels for it, I might even go a tad narrower, the tourer (which was detuned by 60 BHP, believe it or not) had a 180 rear as opposed to the 240 on mine, so a 120/180 combination would make it go around corners better, and be way cheaper for tyres. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Well at Cow Man's suggestion, I took the Rocket III out for a ride yesterday. I had some errands to run, I was looking for a male 3 pin headlight plug to adapt the chinese headlight wiring to the female 3 pin plug on the VTR1000 wiring loom, and I needed a new internal lock for the en-suite door. I rode over to Ace Motorcycles, Jeff didn't have the plug I needed, so he made an adapter for it on the spot, and wouldn't take any money for it. What a nice bloke!

I decided to re-fit my saddle bags, I'd taken them off to make the Rocket "slimmer" so I could squeeze another bike in my garage, and I'd put them on the floor, so my two male cats have been using them for target practise for the last couple of years, so I had to wash all the cats piss off them first. Fcuking cats........... Was a good thing that I did fit them too, when I went to Bunnings (big box hardware store) I decided that I needed a new Irwin ratchet Screwdriver and a set of hex key sockets, so the $9.90 door lock blew out to 84 bucks. Oops...........

I did all that, and then did a quick 100 miler up in the hills, which was lovely as the weather was quite cool compared to a couple of days ago. I keep looking at the headlight/fairing I've installed on the VTR1000 and for some reason it reminds me of a "Praying Mantis", so as much as naming your bike is obviously gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) I've nicknamed it the "Mantis". I'm just waiting for some large flange pop rivets to arrive so I can make one good muffler out of three so I can fix that unsightly Yoshi pipe, and I can then think about getting it registered. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Well got a 750 engine buttoned up that came to me with all the covers off and very dirty etc. Took out the clutch and basket completely, dropped oil pan and pump, tore off the cam and rockers and cleaned cleaned and cleaned. Before mounting in frame since I may go with a 4-1 exhaust I thought I would loosen the spigot screws while on the bench. So far I am getting my azz kicked. 3 out so far and two broken bits, one screw which had a chunk of the hardened steel from the bit wedged in it badly. Modified some small punches out of hardened steel and won and walked away for now after torching and soaking the remaining ones for my next go. These impact bits were old Craftsman not new chinese but will be looking for some more quality ones for the next go around. These are the worst I have run into, maybe from the engine sitting around so long.  Glad I am not dealing with it in the frame.
Anybody use an impact drill, gun on these rather than a hand impact.

Wow, I thought that Craftsman was good quality Eric? Lucky I didn't buy any! I'd wait until you have the engine installed, then run it up to temp, while spraying some liquid wrench etc into the screws, and that should un-stick 'em! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Slowly taking Red's engine apart, she has 5000 miles since the build and so far everything looks great and well oiled.

She might have one of those vintagecb bad tensioners, not sure yet.
