I took the carbs off my 73 cb750, plugs have been fouling, 1 wet with fuel, 4 looked like it was wearing a current coat.  Also just put on some new aftermkt condensers and received an induction dwell meter in the mail.

So I spent today moving my needles to middle position, which I didn't know they were in the #2 position because I never went that far into this set of carbs.

Sunday I'll have time to change oil, get it all buttoned up and start into learning how to use the dwell meter, can't wait.
My toolbox consists mainly of hammers.

I put completely rebuilt CB550F 069A carbs on my ‘77 CB550K.

This removes the choke cable that comes on the stock PD46 carbs. I much prefer the side lever choke anyway. Bike is running better than ever.

Edit: I replaced the manifold and intake rubber as well...The new rubber is much more flexible.

Loaded the 750 and my 550 roller and most of my parts out of my sister's garage. The 750 gets dropped at Moto Guild so I can work on it more, the roller and parts go to the storage unit near home where they are easier to get to.

What fairing is that in the back of your vehicle, and are you installing that on a SOHC bike?

Today, first really sunny spring day here, after playing with charging, I made short ride. Now I'm sure I need carbs total cleaning and rebuild and sync.

Nice bike!
I had spring for exactly one year ago having a ride on my CB750 K6, March 24. This year probably 2 weeks more to wait so all sand is wiped off the road. There is still snow and ice on the roads here.

If the bike has original ignition: Start with adjusting it before doing the carbs. Point gaps must be equal on both.
verify the ignition on both 1-4 and 2-3 with strobe lamp. Then check points again with Dwell meter, adjust when engine idles and set them at the same number of degrees, as close as possible.  23-24 at 8 cyl setting. (23.2-23.5 work fine)
If your engine had a horrible idle before, it will probably run fine now and you might change your mind about further carb jobs.

Dwell setting is the last detail you must do, turning the ign plate will most likely change point gap since plate might sit loose sideways which will cause different gap when turning the plate.
It is possible to tighten up a loose sitting plate by hammer on the case alu ridges supporting the plate.
See more here
http://www.motorcycleproject.com/text/sohcign.html

Electronic ignition like Dyna-S and Pamco do not mind if plate moves sideways, no point gap that change. Old points can be fixed to work fine ;)

Clean and synch. They are very unlikely to need rebuilding.

English is not my native language, by rebuilt I meant full disassembly & clean (incl ultrasonic) all o rings replacement and full settings.

Bike has less than 9000 miles from new , but still it has almost 42 years, so time effect is visible... Greased parts dried etc, plastic.and rubber parts are simply degraded...

I thought that's what it looked like. I had a 1984 VF1100 Sabre (V65) and it had the HondaLine fairing with the lowers, and man was that a great fairing. The uppers were all the same, and they would make different lowers for each bike, like the CBX, etc. I really like the lines of those fairings, and would be tempted to install one on a CB750 too!

Well, yesterday was a frustrating day re-installing the front wheel, and then the rear taillight wire for the brake light detached from the LED circuit board.. so I ordered a new one, with a chevron look, I kinda like it better, and will see if it will bolt up to the plate holder I have mounted already. It looks like it will, no problem.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Integrated-Motorcycle-LED-Turn-Signal-Tail-Light-EXCELLENT-Quality-Waterproof/323124091200?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

I looked at an ad from China for the same light, and it has the 2 bolts out back like the one I just removed... and I hope it is the same center, or the drill is coming out! I would have ordered the China one, but shipping time would have been WAY more than the shipping time from New York... so I paid double the price for it. I wanna ride it next week!

Thanks PeWe for advices.
This is all planned.

For the moment I'm under time pressure, on April 7th I have technical and historical authentication check scheduled in order to register bike here as historical vehicle (I cannot do normal registration as bike is imported from USA and is more than 8 years old).
I'm still missing to complete front brake, waiting for new hoses to arrive. This should be the last element to be ready.

Once this is behind me, I'll with continue with tuning, including carbs and ignition.
I believe as having just 9k miles on tacho, it should not be a problem.

been working on my spare 350F, cleaned the carbs out, fuel tap and tank. Tried for ages to no avail to get the airbox back on the carbs, why were they not easier to fit.

Ordered more parts, an air filter for the 550, and an air filter, carb boots, manifold rubbers, and carb kits for the 750.

2 of the airbox boots on the 750 have shrunk and are loose in the box and the manifold rubbers are clearly ready for replacement. Since I have to pull the carbs anyway I should replace all the gaskets. The filters and carb kits came from 4into1, the airbox boots from Z1, and the manifold rubbers from a guy in Wisconsin via eBay. I am determined to have the 750 running in the next 2 weeks and ready for the road by the end of April.

I never replace the bowl gaskets on 750 roundtop carbs if they are still original. They pretty much last forever and are carb dunk friendly. Don't try to pick them out, just leave them be. The 'new' rubber ones are junk and can swell with gasoline and be a royal pain in the ass. Those are the only ones I have had to replace and usually with an old stocker. Listen to me now and believe me later.  ;) ;)  Other then those not much more in the way of gaskets for them.  I am just putting the finishing touches on an orange F0,started it today. Line the tank and I am done. Pics coming soon--------------------
