Got my motionpro 18mm Honda Spark Plug Socket, works a treat getting #2 cyl's plug out
Ran new fuel lines all good, went to turn the key and nothing, dead as a post.
Battery 12.6, fuses okay hmmm,

Dead ignition switch  :(
Wont switch the black and red (Power and earth wires) so to get a new one
Any places to avoid buying a #$%*house one? This one lasted since 74 I want the same haha!

There's a bloke here in Melbourne who sells NOS genuine Honda parts on Ebay Mazza, he goes by the name of "Grooveyguru" and his stuff is reasonably priced without ridiculous international shipping charges. I did a check of what he's got for sale, couldn't find a CB750 switch, but he did have a very similar one for a Honda Dax of the same era.

He may well have a CB750 switch though, I've asked him for  various parts and he's had them in stock, just not on Ebay. ;D https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Honda-ST70-Dax-SS50-S110-Ignition-Switch-Vintage-35100-065-007/122001599386?hash=item1c67dcab9a:g:pLEAAMXQXQxRZF~l&frcectupt=true

Thanks, Ill give him and Puds a bell tomorrow at work.

gave Pud's Four's in Yarram a bell, $55 including express post later, my ignition switch should be here tomorrow!

Today I took the carbs back off the 77 Cb750f I have been working on, because two float needles weren’t sealing and they were overflowing.   Some crud got in there .  And then I popped out the little square piece that holds the ball bearing down in the accel pump base.  And if flew across the garage and disappeared.  Seriously magical .  An hour crawling with bright lights = nada.   😠
I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.

Hmmnnn, for 55 beans it'll be a cheap repro one mate, definitely won't last as long as your original did, I've seen several "Emgo" sh1t ones fail in very short order. You gets what you pays for.......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I've started soaking my carbs one at a time.  After my first attempt with carb cleaning spray, I wasn't holding out any hope for the carb dip.  But given I can't afford vapor blasting nor my own soda blast booth, I went for it.  I have to say I was surprised.  I couldn't find Berryman's local so I went with Gunk carb cleaner. (non biodegradable type). I was pleased.  I let it set over night & rinsed using sink sprayer (wife loved that) and a plastic bristle brush on and off.  Not bad considering.  Again, not vapor blast cool/good but after I guitar string the ports and jets, I believe it will work fine.

Here are a few comparison pics for those weighting their options and cost.

Hi Ace:  I think maybe you are metting your mixaphors.  Vapor or soda blasting arw mostly cosmetic activities. They won’t flush/clean/ream out those tiny inner tubes in the PD carbs.  You would still have to chase out the gunk, with GUNK... or Berryman’s and .010 or .009 wire, and compressed air.  Also you don’t want to get soda particles stuck in those passages.   There really isn’t a fast way to do this well, regardless of $expended.  And in fact, it’s possible that even after you chase those tube bores with wire... and you get air to move through all those passages, there are still sections with layers of crap inhibiting/affecting flow... so the very specifically designed and engineered volumes and pressures of air or fluid or both are now different... and the bike will never run as well as when new.  Just another “fun”
Challenge we fact with 40-50 year old machines

Upgraded a CB750 oil pump with new rotors from forum member Messnermoto. What a nice fit, a real improvement! That pump also got Vital seal kit and will upgrade my K6 oil pressure when hot.

Another set of rotors ordered for another by seal kit restored pump. Both bikes (K6 and K2) will soon get a pump swap. I'm too lazy now. I'll do it when oil pans need to be removed for internal cleaning.

Coelacanth have been around long time and have NOS and repro. I've bought stuff from them over the years and its been good quality. Honda have been building bikes in Thailand since the mid 60s so there may be some connection between that and there new Honda parts coming from there.

I washed my K3 while spending time in Ridgecrest CA. Added a quart of oil which is disturbing since previous 82,000 miles didn't need more than a half-quart after 2,000 miles........I'll look into it when I get back to Wisconsin...........along with a few other things including swingarm bushings.

Ordered parts for my and my buddy's bikes. For me front brake piston seals and fork seals for my F3 fork/brake swap, a transmission cover seal, and a replacement seat lock. For my buddy's bike a set of carb gaskets/O-rings, brake piston seals all around, fork seals, and throttle cables. The other day I ordered another set of tappet feeler gauges (at least the 3 or 4th time, I don't know why I can't hold on to the things, but they are easier to work with than generic feelers).

My new front master cylinder was delivered earlier this week and the new muffler to go with my new headers is supposed to be delivered today. Saturday I will pick up a set of plug wire connectors for the coil end of my Accel wires and hopefully the ignition will be all back together this Sunday and the new front end and brakes next Sunday.

My buddy comes in from Albuquerque for 2 weeks at the end of the month for training for a new job with United Airlines. I don't know if his bike will be ready, but I will see what I can do.

Rode it to work today with my new spark plugs in and new ignition key, but alas it's now missing under load not bogging under load.
Wrong spark plugs = bogging, so the right ones make it miss.  ::) ::)

Bought a 1984 Yamaha xs400 with about half the money I got for my project cb500.

I just plan to use it as a commuter for now, but do some slight modifications in the future because I do think it’s ugly.

I’ve learned by looking at some of the custom bikes on here that beauty and cool are often in the eye of the beholder.   Ugly or not it’s in pretty great shape for a 35 year old bike .  Good luck dude.

Terry, it was cheap and I won’t feel bad about anything I do to it. It runs great and only has 40k kms on it. I’d like to make it into some sort of scrambler/cafe like thing. Trying to talk my wife into letting me get a good welder so I can play with a bit of fabrication. With it being learner legal I could easily make some money off it if I can make it look cool(ish).

Larry, it’s good to hear someone else will admit to riding one of these.

I too was inflicted with one of them there XS things but mine was the lesser powered ( and loved) 250 version, the XS250RK to be precise

I paid the dollar a cc principle after having killed the single cam model, and by fcuk it was slow, handled really nicely compared to the earlier one

I have no recollection of what happened to it but I'm guessing it got traded on the GS750 as that's what I had next ( first grown up bike )

And yes the little Yamaha's looks were something only a mother could love
i blame Terry

I've got an 84 magna that someone put a sabre engine in. Since the sabre engine has a few more ponies I though I'd see if I could make it a little sportier. I put a Kerker header on it and replaced the 84 carbs with a set of 83s which produce a little more horsepower. Now I have a lot more experience tuning carbs to a one of a kind bike. I've done lots of stuff to this bike getting it running again.

After my last round of clutch fiddling I took it out and the clutch was still slipping so I broke down and bought a set of kevlar clutch plates. I got those installed last night.

Today I got to looking at the fork seals because they were seeping. Those things are installed up side down so this afternoon I decided to take a chance and flip them over to see if this would fix the problem. Nope! You should have seen the grunge that was in those forks. The seals, they appear to be aftermarket so I'm ordering the tried and true Honda seals. At least when they come in all the parts and oil are clean and fresh so it shouldn't take nearly as long to replace them.

I guess its time to get the CB750 out and running again. Its been covered in the corner for the last few years and I think she needs a little love.

Test fit the Delkevic muffler I got to go with my header. Looks great, but firmly pressed against the passenger peg. Tomorrow I will break out the cut off and grinding disks and fix that. I also mocked up the cheap Chinese tail light I bought. I'm very pleased with how ot looks.
