My K6 got new oil pump rotors that Mirko (MessnerMoto) has made.
I removed the Hindle 4-2-1 and remembered to weigh it. Long muffler 1100g, all the rest 2400g. Total 3.5kg
I have the short muffler too I ordered for eventual future use while order and shipping. It weigh 950g.

Quick test ride and it really look like the oil pressure is higher when warm.
Last summer was very hot which was visible as low oil pressure. I stepped up to 20W-60 oil when oil warning lit at idle.  This year if hot I might drain 1 bottle volume and refill a bottle of 20W-60.

Again about oil pump assembly. It is not enough to prime pump with oil and rotate the sprocket a lot.
Both valves need to be loosened and let air out while rotating the sprocket with pump complerely drained in  a opened box with oil. The under pressure will show when blocking one of the 2 holes beside sprocket with finger while rotating. Other hole change direction when rotating. It will suck good when air is out and pump is properly primed.

Last week I paid the DMV fees and registration on my Cb750k4 that was only 16 years overdue, and today I took my two girls (9 and 12) for their first motorcycle rides! It's a day I'm sure we will all remember fondly for a long time.
It's ok if it leaks a little oil, that just means there is oil in it.
It's when it stops leaking that you should worry.

Ordered brake lines for the front. I am not sure if I will get them by this weekend, so I may be off the road for another week.

Split open my little CB100 engine.

Should I use sealant or will just using the gasket be ok?

Shouldn't need to use sealant with a proper Honda gasket. You might want to start a thread in other bikes

got the motor back into the frame, 73 cb750
stock motor, basically just cleaned the bottom end, new rings,
new gaskets and seals.
feels like once the motor is back in the frame the hardest part is
behind me.
My toolbox consists mainly of hammers.

I used an Athena gasket kit on my CB750 K2. Head gasket went on dry as all the gaskets. It is a later model gasket with 8 wider holes. Cylinder and head earlier with smaller holes so it got 8 o-rings + good 2 for oil going up.
The trick is to re-torque until nuts stops to move/gasket no longer compress. I had to tighten 3 times more after first time.

Actually was yesterday, but replaced the tires, chain, and sprockets with parts from this century (see pic) and then took her out for the first real ride. Ran into cyl4 firing problems as mentioned in a separate post.

Since I built a ramp for the wife's duck pen today I was able to install tapered roller bearings on the 73' 500, clean and rebuild the fork legs and assemble the front end. Not bad for mothers day. 8)

Not what I hoped, but still a productive day.

The new brake lines that were on time for delivery by 8pm yesterday at 9am were delayed by noon and haven't shown up yet. So bike still not rideable yet.

Today I fabricated new fasteners to hold on my seat trim by welding together washers and 4mm tapered head machine screws. Then I installed the spring for my center stand. I still need to modify the stop from the Delkevic because it's too high.

Next up was properly tightening the bearings on the triple. I did a tapered conversion last year, but the front end didn't feel quite right. Once I got a pin spanner on the nut it was obvious I didn't tighten it enough when I put it together last summer.

Finally I stripped the paint off the tank and did some prep work on the tail piece.I won't have time top paint it next weekend, but it will be ready for it by the end of the day next Sunday. Now I really need to settle on a color.

Not today, but this past Saturday spent two hours at the CT DMV and left with a classic plate for my 78 750F. Hasn't been on the road for the past two years after moving from WA.  Glad to be out riding again!

I bought my current "Swamp Rat" project from a guy from my home town a couple of weeks ago. It was leaning up against his shed outside, in the weather for 10 years, with no carbs, seat, tank, electrics etc, just a rusty frame, rotten wheels and a seized engine.

Terry's Swamp Rat CB750 28 Apr 2019 9 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

When I took the head off this was what the two cylinders with valves open looked like:

Friday K2 fiddling 3 May 2019 9b by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I replaced two sleeves and two pistons that an old ex-member here sent me many years ago, gave the other cylinders a good hone too, and shoved it back together.

Swamprat replacement sleeves 1 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Sunday Swamp Rat fixing 5 May 2019 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I cleaned the sump pan and oil pump, just to be safe, because "Safety" is my middle name.........:

Swamp Rat Sunday 12 May 2019 5 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Swamp Rat Sunday 12 May 2019 4 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I found an oil tank and hoses, some carbs and coils in my garage, hooked up a battery and temporary fuel tank, and fired it up.

Sweet. I need to replace the wheels as the rusty rims have holes so big you can put your fingers through them, and the tyres have all but rotted off. The frame looks OK, except for a couple of airbox tabs that someone cut off, so next job is to pull the engine, remove all the fcuked parts, and get the frame blasted so I can hit it up with some paint. Then I can turn it back into a bike. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks Dave, these old buggers are second nature to me, I honestly don't know how many I've owned, I used to say "More than 20", but I've been saying that for years, so who knows? Check out my build thread, it's got more up to date pics and video's. ;D
