Installed the new 915 pistons and slid the cylinders down over them. Doesn't that sound just sooooo easy. I wish.

Torqued down the head.

Tomorrow is another day to wrench.

I havent touched either CB this weekend.
Charged the battery on the newly acquired vlx600 and spray bombed the tanl terribly. It was a awful shade of red with over spray all over the tank. The more i look at it the more i want to score a seconf lift and get it in the air beside the cb550....
Not why i got it though... Test rode it more aroind the blocl rear brake sticks a tad.

Got the 73' CB500 running yesterday. The clutch appears to be worn out. If you adjust it till it starts to work the adjuster arm hits the chain, but it runs pretty good for 37k miles.

Thanks to some starter fluid, I finally was able to start my '73 350F after months of not it not running.

The root of its evils was the previous owner coating the gas tank with Kream. Ugh!!! I cleaned the tank several times but ended up having to buy another tank on Ebay. Had a mechanic re-build the carbs but some crap from the old tank must have made it through before I replaced the tank. It wouldn't start until I sprayed starting fluid into the carbs.

With the starting fluid, it started right away but now the engine makes a knocking sound when it idles. It didn't knock after the carbs were re-built though.

Anyone think bad gas in the carbs is causing the knocking sound at idle? It goes away over 2,000 rpm.

It's probably coincidental Lou, pull the clutch in while it's idling, if the "knock" disappears or is much reduced with the clutch in, it means that your carbs are out of synch.

There could still be some goop in them thanks to the old Kreem, so pull them off, thoroughly clean them with carb cleaner and compressed air, (first remove the fuel needle valves, every jet, screw etc to ensure that you've blown all the crap out of all of the internal circuits) "Bench Sync" them with a piece of wire as a gauge to set each slide, then stick them back on, and see how it runs.

Got the 315 megacycle 125/75 cam and valve train installed along with the clutch cover. Cam degreeing up next.

  Yanked a 1975 750F out of storage Saturday.Quick history is I bought it from the older original owner back in 2013.It had sat for a long time in his garage and had things stored around it. He felt bad he could not help move it anymore and I had to laugh when I did pull it out that at one time he had painted the garage walls and painted around the bike because he could not move it. A Honda 'shadow' of a different color paint was there when I left 
  Anyways the winter before last I got serious about getting it back on its feet with new tires,tune-up,fork seals blah- blah- blah-,you know the deal. Got her done and then for whatever reason put just 7 miles on it last summer and member Sean did half of those ! Got a whopping 52 miles on it now. Plan is to run it this summer a little and get some miles on her and do a little more detailing etc.. She is running and handling very nice right now and so quiet I can't hardly hear it over the wind. Must be something inside that HUGE HEAVY muffler---

Picked up another K1 tonight. The pipes are absolutely in great shape. Not one hole, not one dent, not one ounce of rust starting on any pipe. Crazy part is I have driven past the house 4 times in the past week and never knew it was there.

Finally got the mini sohc running and rideable...............

Took it for a romp around the hood.......rides good.

Just gotta tighten up the loose ends, lights, tires.......she'll be a runabout and possibly back and forth to work.

Got the 125/75 cam degreed in. Gets easier every time you do one 

Dialed in to the card numbers IO 26 BTC and IC 56 ABC with a calculated lobe center of 105 vs 106 on the card. Measured lift at .402 vs .400 on the card.

Thanks Bill. Focused and retired.  And other than having needed 2 green main bearings I have had everything I needed. It's been 8 days so far. A little each day. I have met my daily schedules too. Not pressing myself too much.

Engine installed. All the covers installed. Oil tank installed. Chain and front sprocket installed. Dyna 2000 installed. Few things hooked up. Aired the tires.

My dwindling list still includes install CR31 carbs and Kerker. Oil. Gas. Battery. Adjust chain/rear wheel. Turn on petcock and the key. Another day for this and a day to go over it.

I wish PhotoBucket hadn't hosed us or I would have been posting progress pictures.

Thanks for trying to help guys. I'm not an accomplished hand computer telephonerist. Hell, I even use that damn thing to make calls! Too small and too many thingies to push. It does not have an icon for the forum listed under the "share" icon like it does for text and emails?? I've reverted to sending text pics when needed but that doesn't get to the general population.

Sean, Danny suggestions on how to do that?? To me this is more difficult than degreeing a cam  PM if you can explain.

So..... The Kerker is on, the CR31 Special carbs are on, everything (all loose wiring I could find) is hooked up, battery is charged, 3.75qt Castrol 4T oil added with the first 2 quarts going down the valve cap holes, tank located, plugs loose for initial oil pressurization.

Gotta install the throttle cables and gas the #$%* up!!  Oh yeah, check the ignition timing on the Dyna 2000.

Beer30 now. Video tomorrow (maybe, depends on the bike and the video posting BS).

Looking promising except the battery. Shows 12+/13+ coming off the Tender, hit the starter, turns fairly slowly then the voltage drops to mid 11's. Load test it tomorrow and replace it, install some gas and hit the starter. It is turning albiet slowly. Need better rpms to get the oil pressure up. O'Reilly's has an AGM battery with 220 CCA.

Throttle cables installed. Don't like the feel but it will do for now.

Took the battery to O'Reilly's for a load test. He put it on HIS charger for 28 minutes and it tested good. Back home I installed it. Turns over better but not as fast as the 1000. Second pull the pressure popped!

Still need to set the timing advance. Waiting on info for that. Replace the plugs and attach the wires. Running outta #$%* to do except for the starter button.
