Mark M, is that std race stand you use to lift rear?
I have thoughts to find one, but 4-4 will be an obstacle. Except yours.
It will make it easier to live chain.
Center stand is tricky on flat smooth concrete garage floor.

Its sat on it's own sidestand, I think you are looking at the covered lock and chain looped through the back wheel.

Friday...…

Installed the head again after the valve replacement, set the lash on the valves, installed the CR31's and the Kerker and fired her up. Much better but just not right. It would die off at about 3500rpm and piss wet the plugs. Time to quit for the day.

Yesterday..….

Double checked my valve lash, reset the timing on the Dyna 2000 to 36 - 37 degrees, cleaned and installed a different set of plugs, dropped the needles in the CR31's one notch to 3rd from the top (damn! how EASY is that!!!), fired her up. Much better mid-range response. It is idling under 1000 kinda sorta with the Megacycle 125-75. Sounds really solid.

Today...…

Nothing. Got up at 2am and went to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

Monday.....

Get out my sync gauges and tighten up the chain.

I'm still not convinced. Skeptical after my last few issues.  ::) but I am always hopeful  ;)

It turns out that no matter how tight you make it, one bolt is not enough to hold my aftermarket rear master cylinder in place. The reason I didn't have a rear brake for the 1st half of my trip, including The Dragon, was that the MC had pivoted enough that the lever barely moved the piston. Yesterday while trying to figure out a solution my Uncle looked at the bracket and said, does that hole at the top of the triangle go through? Why not just run a bolt through to serve as a stop? Sure enough,  a 5/16 bolt with a flat spot ground in and a cotter pin to keep it from backing out keeps the bottom from moving and just like that I have a proper rear brake again. It took all of 3 minutes to fix.

Took the girl out for a ride. Fiund out that my carbs aren't tuned correctly as the bike lacked power at around 70mph. I couldn't accelerate past that speed even if I wanted to. I had to pull over and let cars pass.

I'm thinking it's too rich since I see fuel leaking from the carbs. I'm going to check float heights tomorrow.

Pulled my Honda 900F out of storage yesterday. Put in a battery and was surprised it started right up after sitting for a year or so. I had done some work on it last year and this year I had to fiddle with the rear brake caliper again today to get it unfroze.Running good and plan on getting a few tanks of gas through it this summer to keep it alive and give it a good cleaning.  A friend of mine had a blue 900, great bike to ride but it had the mystery ' not going to start today ' syndrome that seems to afflict some of them
Luckily the day he sold it, it behaved itself

Changed pilot jets on my K6 Mikuni TMR carbs. 1 step bigger from 32.5 to 35. The float bowls gaskets are PITA to get right. All 4 bowls to be removed or assembled at the same time since they are connected via acc pump hoses. It usually work fine when knowing how to do.

The gasket, red o- ring like construction can swell by the fuel and do not fit the grooves and it will leak.
It did this time.
I took a photo before assembly where carb 1gasket look swelled.(top bowl below) This is the one where it leaked when resting on side stand.
I could remove that bowls screws and make #2 loose, bend down #1 bowl and replace gasket. Reused an old one probably swelled before but dried up. Fixed it with vaseline in groove and bolted it up. No leak! ;)
Old gasket saved to be used next time if it has crimped to normal.

Looks goos Eric, I had an original blue CB900 Bol Dor, but it was a piece of sh1t. Two cam chains rattling away, dodgy electrics with ignition pots melting was too much for me, so I sold it at a loss, but was glad to see it gone. It put me off those DOHC Honda's and I've never felt the need to dip my toe in the water again. Kawasaki and Suzuki DOHC bikes sh1t all over them. ;D

I too much prefer the big Suzuki,Kaw bikes Terry. This one is not what I would call overly fast and the engine is a bit buzzy and noisy at idle. May need to try and adjust both chains  ::)  The seating position is cramped for my 6'3" frame.  So far I think the battery still charges but I did have to repair the starter clutch once which was easy but is a weak point on these also. Honda needed loctite on the assembly screw bolts as they get loose and try to fall out. Price was right and something different to scoot around on a little.  Bought it back in 2011 when I was on a major buying binge  ;D

Picked up this bike not long ago.  Needs a bit of work to be 100%.  Pulled the plugs and checked compression.  All right around 120psi, should be good there.  Plugs looked okay too.  Doesnt like to idle too great, bogs a lot off of idle.  Guess it's carb rebuild time.

Deposited it back in my sister's garage after riding 1,996 miles over 12 days. Now it gets an oil change, a new tach drive seal, and a good cleaning.
