Yeah mate, these "What did you do to your (insert bike or car name) threads are the most popular on most forums and FB sites I'm on. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Nice!  I'm gonna have to scrounge around to find some old pics of the '74.

My grandfather had a brown '76 XLH that I'd ride from time to time... it always threw me off switching between right and left shift.  To this day (and it's been 20 years since I rode the '74) I still catch myself having to think to switch feet.  Doesn't do much good trying to toe-up the brake.

This thread is a build thread for many :)

I replaced the battery on my K6 yesterday.
Finally a battery that will run the starter 3 times of 10 sec without weakening.
I usually start the bike on full choke, ign off, run starter 10 sec. throttling...  Then ign on start again. Maybe more off if not started for a longer period. I prefer start on all 4 cylinders direct ;)

I have learned with my car to replace battery direct when it is weak by no reason, charged not long time ago.
Get a stop away from home  cost more than a battery.

Thanks Mark, I'll be spending some of my "self Isolation" replacing the crank/flywheel assembly, I love this bike, but it hasn't fired a shot in anger in many years. I managed to get a great used part to replace it, and the gasket set arrived yesterday, so I'll take a break from wicked Kawasaki's and get this old girl back on the road. ;D

Well I had a mighty battle removing the tyres from my old Henry Abe wheels so I could get them blasted in prep for new tyres and installation on my K2 bitsa. The 16 inch rear was so bad I had to put it in the vise to break the bead, and even then I had to use a penetrant, because the tyre had corroded to the rim. Anyway, 5 batteries in my dewalt angle grinder later, it was off.

I drove straight over to the tyre shop to get some new Stinko's installed. They thought they wouldn't need tubes, but discovered that the rims were porous, so new Michelin tubes were installed. I was going to put them on the bike today, but fell asleep, so I'll do it tomorrow. Why three? I couldn't decide whether I'd stick with the custom 16 inch rear look, or go back to the 18. Good thing is if I don't like one, I can quickly swap to the other. ;D

Good Morning Stev-o,
I never thought about it. It is tedious work. This is my first go at it. I have been sanding for days while waiting for my cylinder at the machine shop. The valve cover is the worst. I think the other covers turned out better I just ran out of patience while sanding the valve cover. I am happy overall with the final product. What do you need polished?

Started on my spring projects. Stripped off the headlight and the turn signal/headlight bracket. I am going to fix my hasty paint job and I think I will install one of my 2 Hondaline fairings painted to match.

Changed oil and filter. Lubed the chain. Snipped a little off each spark plug lead and reattached (melted one on the exhaust so shortened them all).
Then took it for a ride.

So I decided to paint the wheels after noticing how many greasy fingerprints they had on them after the new tyres were fitted. Luckily I had etch primer and engine enamel in my garage, so it didn't take much time to get them looking nice.

Saturday ride day 28 Mar 2020 1 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I need another front disc, so ratted around the back of my garage and found the original front wheel from my "Swamp Rat" build.

Saturday ride day 28 Mar 2020 2 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I dumped the disc in the ultrasonic cleaner, which helped a little, but it'll need a lot more work before I can paint and install it. Oh well, I'm waiting on new rear brake shoes and new "Brembo" front pads, so plenty of time to prep them before they go on. ;D

Started to ah winterize it . for the 963million year it and a lot more like it that are going to be same. It's to bad gasoline only last a month. Or I have some gas to. Well, there's alot here on this, i'm almost sure that might not believe it, but I had blast. Pretty strange, wouldn't you say, this whole time. Oh well, be cool, i'd say have fun, but that corny story the middle East have been pushing now for at least 3000 or more years, doesn't sound all that thrilling. Having all that dirt around and not riding it, ever, somehow resembles that silly story. Hanginging out in some fluffy cloud ssomewhere, and you can't jump that's probably a sin. It would have been better living in the clouds, you could just jump from anywhere anytime then get a ride back. True story.

So this was the "before" pic of the disc off the ol' Swamprat wheel that's been sitting in the weather for 10 years.

Saturday ride day 28 Mar 2020 3 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

And this is how it looks now after a cleanup on the lathe with a heap of wire wheel attachments for my drill, and a coat of Rustoleum.

Monday stir crazy disc cleanup by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

When I got back from my ride yesterday, there was a box waiting for me with new EBC rear brake shoes, and Brembo disc pads, so as soon as I finish "working from home" this afternoon I'm gonna put my Henry Abe wheels back together with all the shiny new parts.

I'd love to say I'm gonna take it for a ride too, but I need to find the source of the gearbox lockup first, which might be an "Engine out of frame experience". Oh well, despite the approaching zombie apocalypse, I'm really enjoying the whole "working from home" dealio. ;D
