That's very cool Sean. Are you going to ride that to the Gilmore next weekend?

It was finally time to wake up the bike from it's long winter and spring nap. We've had a ton of work to do around the house and I am only in Michigan on weekends, so I just haven't been able to get to it. I had tried to start it a couple weekends ago, but got nothing when I turned the key. I didn't have time to figure it out, so I just pulled the battery and waited.

Yesterday afternoon I got back to it. First I aired up the tires, then I reinstalled the battery and turned the key. Same issue, no lights of any kind. Pulled off the side cover and checked the fuses, no problems. Opened the little case on the frame that F0/1 bikes have for much of the wiring that it in the headlight shell on other SOHC4's, didn't find anything, but then all of a sudden I had power.

I put the tank back on, choked it up and it fired right up. So I closed the box back up, pushed it out of the barn, went to re-start and stone cold dead again.

Off comes the wiring box again and I start checking connections. Again, no obvious problems. After a few minutes of staring, I noticed the main connection between the harness and switch was disconnected. I have a replacement switch that came from 4into1 and it uses a pigtail out from the switch to move the switch end of the connector to where it is easier to get to. The harness end has the opening for the retainer clip, and it is broken, so the connection had apparently just vibrated loose then separated all together when I moved the bike out of the barn and turned the bars. I plugged it back in and all was good.

Rode up to the house, geared up and went for a 60 mile ride. It was sunny and 72 and just beautiful. A picture is posted in the Photo thread.

When I got home it got fresh oil and filter. Next weekend is the Gilmore Vintage Motorcycle weekend. I'm busy Saturday, but I'll do a quick timing chain adjustment and hit the show on Sunday.

Yeah, hopefully.  I have been sort of trying to save the fresh build effect for a good show....but I gotta try and swap meet a bunch of stuff so I don't know if I will have time and/or space to get it there.
If it works good, it looks good...

I got a bike back from a friend after a decade. I took the tank off to drain out gas that was a few years old, drained the fuel from the carbs, and filled it up with some fresh gas and seafoam. I’m hoping I can get away without pulling the carbs and rebuilding them.
Welcome back aboard

...don't know, not so many may be 150+- for sure not so many as last Year because the weather was real bad, it was raining all 4 Days.
A lot people came by car and some by car and trailer with motorbike on it.
Had a lot of fun there, bought some parts and arrived dry at home.
Parked the CB750 in the garage and took the car and then I killed Bambi.

Good thing you were not hurt.
We have an out of control population of Axis deer here, we have no predators, only hunters and they cannot keep up. It's excellent venison, after all, they are living in a 12 month garden. We have to be very careful driving at night and even in the day time.

Sounds like some of the local restaurants should start serving Axis to create some demand and a market for it. Maybe then you can get enough hunters supplying Axis to control the population.

The car is insured against a crash like this but I am still a little bit sad because I just finished the car several weeks ago with a complete paintjob and a fresh installed turbo engine :(

This weekend I

- refurbished and repainted front master cylinder
- polished brake and clutch lever to mirror sheen
- made new braided steel pvc-coated brake lines with new banjo fittings
- put fluid in brake lines and tested. Good stuff!
- mounted chain
- mounted chain guard
- mounted and adjusted clutch
- checked transmission. It works
- rebuilt and bench-synced carburetors, and installed new clamps and boots (OEM)
- lubed all cables
- lubed throttle shaft with graphite
- started getting to grips with #$%*ty old harness

Got my side panels back from my painter for the K6.As soon as the tank decals arrive here the tank will be done. the one on the right is the stock colour. I think he came close in the colour match in spite of the poor lighting.

Red does fade with age and it like most yellows is very additive due to its transparency. That is why painting side covers and other parts at the same time is about the only way to get good color matches. Much harder when done later. Skills really have to be higher to do very good color matches on colors like red later. One light coat can change the color depth and shade a fairly significant amount.

Your painter did a nice job on the paint!

it hasn't run since i started the whole project but it did run and was being ridden so i don't hold too many doubts on that front ( except the carbs have been changed and i'm putting electronic ignition in so theres two new variables...)
the fairing is from a zzr600 that i was given, it should be good to go now I've properly cleaned the carbs and done fluid changes, when i can get some room in the garage i'll finish putting the carbs back on, repair the fairings and put it up for sale
i blame Terry
