Sold another one! A local, retired farmer (same age as me) heard I had some cb750s. Turns out he had a K7 when new! Got mine running today and he instantly said “finish it up”! That’s the K8 and K7 gone. Lot’s of interest in the K6 but no takers yet…… Got to get back on the Sandcast, Cobble Beach is in less than three months!

Brakes and front disc are next. I mistakenly installed a cb550 disc when I did this one, ten years ago. I loaded the tank with a litre of two stroke oil and a few litres of fuel years ago and it looks good. Sorry to see it go, but these bikes wrapped up and sitting at the back of my shop are ridulous. Both these fine machines will now be back on the road where they belong. The guy that bought the K8 sent me a note; he’s already put +800 kilometres on it!

Stu….. You’re probably right! Bike is done, fill the tank, lube the chain and go for a “road test” in the morning. It looks pretty good!

Correct. She’s been on the back of my bike once. Her KLR had a flat.

Took it for a nice long “road test” today. The new owner is getting a very nice machine. Ran superbly well. Why do they always do that, when sold?

OEM clutch cable failed so I installed a -3.5" shorter Motion Pro cable which fit way better with the Euro bars. Same gauge inner cable too. Seems smoother with less diversions to eat up the longer Honda cable with Euro bars. A cheap (20 buck) and uneventful installation. The spring at the engine clutch release arm fully returns the handlebar lever which says its good and smooth. Several of drops of oil for cable lube applied just in case. Cable has a bit more dead band (internal slop) than OEM but I will never notice driving the old tank.

Congrats John!

BTW, I had to look up the meaning of Sods law.....

"Sod's law, a British culture axiom, states that "if something can go wrong, it will". The law sometimes has a corollary: that the misfortune will happen at "the worst possible time""

Unplugged the slow jets. The sucky part is i use Star-Tron fuel treatment and i drained the carb. it was in storage for 9 months. My theory is gas doesn't drain out of the very small slow jets, then gums up. S**ty gas is real culprit. Oh well i had it done little over an hour.

.
thanks, Mark

Got a new seat, has a metal pan, not pretty but at least its metal. I spaced out the latch on the frame to line up with the set part of the latch. Ebay, from Vietnam.

Briefly turn the engine over after draining. Slowly wind on the throttle. Should empty the jets.

Exhaust bracket that should ( I have my doubts though )  hold the muffler onto the headers and simultaneously the arse end of the bike.
The top bit screws onto the shock mount and holds the shocker on, the rod in the middle is screwed into both top and bottom parts, the bottom part obviously clamps to the supertrapp.
Looks like what I want it to but even done up tight it kinda wobbles about 5mm side to side, which with the engine running will become a high frequency vibration, fatal to alloy components.
As much as I like it there may have to be a copy made in steel. , also I wanted the vertical rod to run parallel to the shocker.
I  had the joining pipe between the headers and muffler made in stainless , I'll have to work on the join between it and the header collector
i blame Terry

Also found a new home for the tiny little horn that came off Terry's BMW yesterday, it seems it was part of a defunct alarm system but should do nicely for the dirt bike. It's less than 70mm compared to the stock 90mm one and fits nicely inside the tank space which is much wider than a stock tank.
