K1 - got the master cylinder rebuilt and noticed the lower brake hose was cracked so replaced that too. Next comes the master on the KO. That means I did 3 masters this week including the K4. I can not believe how straight forward it is. Sort of like the brake wheel cylinders I used to do in the 70's.

It certainly was. I got home and painted a spacer and then reinstalled my swingarm (with chain in place this time).

Thanks for a good day Mike!

Very nice. Gotta know how that arm works out. Been thinking about picking one up, like the look. Is it a Carpy? I also had thought that a round tube arm would look nice, like the later 70s/80s CB. Industrial did a swap that looks great with his arm.

CB750K4  -Rear wheel was put on today along with the 17T front sprocket. Got the fork boots on using a hair dryer and then the front wheel to get a rolling bike again. Bars on to see how they fit and to allow movement of the bike. Wire harness stripped off to prep for Gordons Frame Kit  ;D

Not so much what I did TO my bike, but rather what I did FOR my bike.  I picked up a bike jack yesterday and set to work on a way to use the jack while my 4-4 pipes are still on.  Off to the home improvement store this morning to hit the PVC isle.  Fitted a few pieces together but couldn't really come up with a way to carry the weight of the frame straight down to the jack.  Brought the parts home and fiddled for a little while, then it hit me!  Here is what I came up with:

theres something like that being sold but the way you did it looks ALOT better, way more secure. i may actually have to do that for my jack as well, when i dont want to fight the bike through the 32" doorway and through the obtacle course to get to the handy-lift in my shop. in fact, i'm going to do some cutting and welding when i get home from my ride tomorrow. it's supposed to hit 70 by 1pm or so, i'm going to ride away from columbia till i hit the reserve in the tank, gas up and ride back towards home, all rodes i havent been on yet too. i'm in the mood to explore.

Put 91 miles on Saturday, I-25 south to C-470, around to Hwy 285 to conifer (got a bit chilly at 8100 feet), Hwy 74 into Evergreen, then down through Kittridge, Idledale, Morrison and back home on Hwy 285. Ran great, got a few looks, answered a few questions, in short, I love her! Only one problem, the rear master cylinder was so rusted inside the rubber I couldn't rebuild it. When I got it back on and was bleeding it all kinds of cloudy goo came out. I flushed it extensively until no more goo, but I think the goo was what was keeping it from leaking. Hopefully a trip to Steel's on Wednesday will yield the remedy.

I figured out why my front brake was binding after changing the tire and replacing the fork seals.

I had the fender tab between the caliper swing mount and the fork leg, not on top of the mount right under the bolt heads.   :P  ::)  That caused the steel line to be pinched between the fender tab and the fork, and not allowing any swing to the caliper mount, which forced the slave pad into the inboard side of the piston.
Jammed it up so bad you could hardly push the bike across the garage floor.

Figured it out this evening by just sitting on a bucket staring at the problem for a bit, and then the lightbulb popped on.
Ten minute fix.

It was the best of days, it was the worst of days. I bought a shiny new TIG welder on EBay last Thursday and as it had to come from the other side of town, I paid the extra 30 bucks to get it delivered. It was a long weekend, but delivery was scheduled today, so I took the day off, as the wife had a medical appointment to go to, and of course someone had to be home to sign for the box. By lunchtime it hadn't arrived, so I rang the courier company, but they couldn't tell me if it was being delivered today? Great. After another 4 or 5 calls, we agreed that I could go collect it from their depot at 5.30pm. So much for my 30 bucks delivery fee............

Ironically, the RC cylinder block I bought from Michrobi in the US on the same day, was delivered at 4pm? How is it that in the same time that USPS/Australia Post can get an item to me from halfway around the planet, TNT couriers here in Melbourne can't get a friggin' box sent from one side of the city to the other? Useless turds!

Good news of course is that I am now the proud owner of another RC cylinder block, woohoo! Interestingly, it's a much better casting than the other one, much sharper edges and the more I look at it, the more I think the first one is a "fake" block, probably cast from an original, which probably also explains why it cracked between the cylinders, dodgy material.

And finally, I got a call back from a guy accepting my offer to buy his (wrecked but repairable) CB750 and all his spares, his bike was beautiful before he threw it down the road, but anyway, it will be good again, and 500 bucks less than he wanted, plus he's agreed to throw in all his spares. Another 850 mile drive next Saturday, but what the hey, I like driving. Here's some gratutuitous pics, to maintain your interest...............  ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry, you are a dirty basterd. Sounds like a great day! one of those RC heads would look great hooked up to my RC header. Thought about doing a big bore, that would be a good start. Maybe I'll start looking for one. Better get one before they all end up downunder!

What did I do to my bike today? Got everything out I have been collecting, polishing, reworking and set most of it on the bench. Bike show in 2 weeks and I got to make sure it runs and looks pretty...'cause "a bike that don't run is not real"...and "a bike that does not race is not...a racebike!"
