Got the rear brakes squared away, F.Y.I. leaky rear master cylinder on a '77 750F? Too rusted to get open? Just grab a Yamaha XS500 from your local junkyard, the master is almost identical. (a few minor mods to the connecting rod and your good to go!) Adjusted the chain a bit, checked a few bolts and took her out for a ride, that was nice! Except now for some reason my gauges don't light up, everything else works electrically, I don't mind weeding out the known gremlins but I don't like new ones. Also have a rubbing sound coming from the front wheel I think, back up on the stands for that one.
That which does not kill you leaves cool scabs which turn into awesome scars.

'77 CB750F Come on...were almost there!

750f. Changed fork oil. Ditched the air gauge and front air forks crap. Went back to stock!  Plugged air fittings in fork caps. Re adjusted new chain. Stuffed rolled paper towel in fins to slow annoying leak. Tried to clean it too but black sucks! Shows everything! Oh I also lowered the forks by about a 1/2 inch. In the middle of all that I went to work.

Found probably the very last NOS Dyna 3000 ignition controller for the 96 Magna Deluxe. Wow what a find ! Felt like I had found and old barn bike that turned out to be a 69 sandcast  with 20 miles on it and frame # 15 in perfect shape. When the mfg says OMG they can't believe there is actually one left, you know you just scored the holy grail. Frosting on the cake....they are FREE shipping it to me. One of their distributors found it mis-stocked by accident. They haven't made this unit since 04. There are some used ones that come up every once in awhile, but a new one still in a sealed box....unheard of.

Took apart my (crushed in the rear-ender I took last fall) brake light and found that my (better looking anyway) smaller light from Napa is going to screw right onto the same bracket.

Removed the trans cover and started cleaning up in order to replace the drippy gasket.

Very stoked that it's finally warmed up enough to enjoy being in the garage at night.

Thanks for the birthday wishes men, and Happy Birthday to my fellow Pisceans! It's been a great week, my second RC cylinder block arrived, (Thanks Michrobi!) so did my shiny new AC/DC TIG welder that I bought myself for my 50th, and I bought another bike.

Only problem is that the bike was located in Canberra, 425 miles from my place, so I had to organise a hire trailer and borow my son's car to tow it, and be on the road nice and early to get up there and back in the same day, so I woke up at 0430, jumped in the rain box to wake myself up, and hit the road.

After going to collect the trailer and the comedy of errors that ensued when the key to the padlock wouldn't open the lock and the half hour wasted there, I arrived at Ken's place around 1pm. We had a cup of coffee then loaded all the spares into some big plastic crates, and I took this pic of Ken on the bike before loading it in the trailer.

Ken is a fascinating bloke, he's now working as a mechanical engineering lecturer at the Australian Defence Force Academy, (ADFA) but back in the 1970's and 1980's he built race bikes for some very notable riders, and showed me pics of him with Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz, and Kenny Roberts, just to name a few. He built his CB750 back in the early 1990's and continued to modify it right up to last year, when he threw it down the road and badly injured himself. If you look closely at the pic of him on the bike, you'll see that his left knee has got more scars than Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown.

Ken rebuilt the F2 engine that now resides in the K2 frame (in place of the 69 K0 engine I've got sitting in my garage) and was able to (then) but a Wiseco 836cc kit specifically for an F2, so unlike most 836cc F2's, it's running much higher compression. Ken wasn't happy with the F2 carbs (or any CB750 carbs, he tried K series carbs as well but hated them) so he found some 32mm CV carbs and made a new rack and linkages etc, to re-space them for a CB750. Check 'em out:

There's lots and lots of other trick mods including big brakes and beautiful CNC triple clamps cut from solid billet, and I'll take more pics tomorrow when I've got it all unloaded. Thebike came down pretty hard, but I don't think the frame is bent, and I've got most of the parts I need to fix it already, apart from the 41mm Yamaha FZR1000 forks, but I'm sure I'll find some. All up I was on the road for close to 16 hours, and boy am I tired! See you tomorrow! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Happy Birthday mate and welcome to the "OF" club. (Over 50's/Old farts)
Doesn't matter.  :)
I'm havin' a Galway Pipe for ya anyway.  ;D
I knocked those Kwaka sleeves out & they might do the job with the RC block.
The only concern is the top lip thickness on the sleeves, which is less than the Honda sleeve.
Russ might have changed that but let me know & I'll give them a measure up.
LA Sleeve might be worth checking out too.

Thanks Mick, I'm off to bed, but I just measured the sleeves from the first RC block, the OD is 77.30mm, the lip height is 5mm, the lips are only 1.4mm (2.8mm overall) "proud" of the sleeves, and the overall length is 106.30. My only real concern is that your Kwaka sleeves are at least 77.30 OD, and if so, I can machine them to fit. Thanks mate! ;D

Spent the morning taking off the tank and removing the petcock and cap assembly.  Tank and sides go off to the painter today!  New Color:  Mitsubishi Gallant/Eclipse Sunset Pearlescent  ;D

My poor naked bike  :'(....

Also....been working on my side and tank badges in preparation for the new paint job.  The two side badges are done....cleaned and repainted.  I decided to remove the black border around the outside to show more chrome against the new paint.  Thought it would look better.

not really work done to my bike, but a bike part in my possession.
I practiced my straightening technique on some junk rims.
here's the one I got pics of--
before

after

there's the bent spot-

it's actually straighter than the area where HD welded the rim together.

EDIT: my tools- ;D
some wood, the dirt, a 60lb broken hydraulic ram, a ball peen and a 2 sided rubber mallet

and the modified socket wrench to fix wrinkles in the curve on the outer lip of the rim

Actually worked on Fabricators bike today.  I finally got a round to dissembling them for clean up and new seals.  Once we got them back together and polished i reinstalled them, the caliper, and front fender.  Then we ran it just check everything, and it all checked out ok.  Now back to my bike...

Well I removed all the damaged parts, (tank, seat, oil tank, blinkers, grab rail, headlight, forks, fender, footpeg, exhaust, sidecovers, etc etc) cleaned all the oil off everything from when the oil tank cap was torn out, and started to replace what I could. Once I replaced the oil tank I filled it with nice new oil and hit the button, and it started straight away!

Tomorrow, I'm gonna pay a visit to a motorcycle wreckers, and hopefully they will have a nice straight set of forks and a fender so I can push it into my garage, and maybe take it for a ride? Woohoo! Have a look at the pics, you K0 guys might notice some "Sandcast gold" on this bike, Ken's not a K0 guy, obviously. Cheers, Terry. ;D
