Rode till it wouldn't run any more. Put in some gas and rode some more. Went to the bike shop to pick up my new speedo cable and gas cap. On the way was riding through construction at 4,000 rpm  and there between the barricades was a motorcycle cop, he smiled and waved but didn't use his radar gun. Later I checked my speed it was about 50. I think we were in a 55 zone.

Removed the engine and disassembled it. The head is in very good condition but as I removed the cylinder block I found a broken piston ring. NO hone marks to see anymore --> absolutely smooth sleeve.

I don't care  ;) 836-Kit is waiting.

I installed my Ricky Racer made SS oil lines, reinstalled my left peg, brake pedal, and kickstarter. Installed spokes to replace broken ones in rear wheel. Now to repaint my back wheel and put it all back together

changed oil, went to 20/50 for the warm part of the year. re-touched paint on header where it has burned off.

Put a 35/35 H4 bulb that my Honda dealer brought in for me on the Tracy $5.99  ;D

Rode around and stopped and started it a bunch of times and my battery always had plenty of power.
Problem solved  ;D ;D

Got my CB500T out of hibernation, and road it to Sam's Club and bought a battery for my 750K2. Can't wait to get it out of hibernation too.

Pulled my mufflers off of my '78 CB550K and started sanding the rust off. Gonna paint them flat black. Should look good with the new paint job that is in the works.

I did an indicated 110, illegal, fun.  On a strip I hit regularly and have gotten to know.  Familiarity breeds speed.

Watched it snow for over 12 hours straight on Friday, warmed up Saturday so now I can see nothing but dry pavement, and today up to 65 so I will be going out in a few hours. Got the vent and drain lines on the battery and gas tank and started fidgeting around with a switch box for the kill switch (someday) and the Cycle X ignition system (thanks Uncle Sam, when will the refund be here?) Going to get the bar set up in the shop before the ride today, no garage is complete without a beer fridge (got it) and a fully stocked bar (almost).

I spent half the afternoon working on my goldwing rearset hack for the k8.....77 goldwing footpegs hacked, reversed, flipped.  this puts the rh footpeg just above the rear brake shaft,  now, just have to do the other side, and make a new rear brake pedal, and a mount for the nighthawk shifter.

Took her out for several good thrashings during the week last week.  Snow and cold returned for the weekend.  Went to a bike swap in Kalamazoo hoping to score some bits.  But alas, wall to wall HD.  *sigh*  There was more English there than Metric.  Not a bit of German or Italian.

Did get a sweet summer riding jacket, leather tool bag and a rain/sun cover.  Oh and a 1977 Michigan license plate!  Not sure I'll register it for the bike as I ride daily and the cops in this town can be anal if they wana be.  Think I'll just keep it on hand for static display and (hoping) that the state rules on vintage plates relaxes.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

brought back head form the shop after fitting helicoils to all the plugs. discovering that one was gone after engine was back together wasnt nice...so not taking any more chances  ;)

fitted new valves seals, titanium valve collars, smoothed the helicoil thread cuts, head back on, torqued, race cam degreed, valve cover on, valve clearance, fit head brace, engine is closed again

next race in three weeks,

Went to kick-start my bike, boot slipped and I heard a crunch. Looked down to see a shattered side-cover. Ah well, I guess I just put it out of it's misery considering it's held together by patchwork anyway.

Have a generic Maier replacement, we'll see how that one does.

Appreciated it, how it's all there, and wondered what I'd so for parts, if needed.

Because I attended a swap meeting yesterday, Maleny, Queensland, Australia (a big annual event), and there were no Honda CB750 parts anywhere. Couple of 400 Fours for sale, and a few bits. But no 750 pieces to be seen, and I looked pretty hard. You could always find something, NOS, great, bad or busted, but yesterday was not a good sign.

I guess there's the big suppliers online to call on, but somehow it's not the same as finding parts the old fashioned way.
