Funny weather this weekend, warm and sunny yesterday, warm and stormy today. I'm working hard to finish the long forgotten restoration of my K2 as I've "pre-sold" it, and today I had to do the two most difficult parts of a resto, installing the cylinder block back on without breaking a piston ring (I used the hose clamp method for the first time and it worked well) and installing the stripes on the tank.

Not sure which was harder, but either way, it's done now. My youngest son told me that he was keen to do his first tank spray job, so I gave him an old tank and some candy paint, and I was very impressed with the result. I might let him do a few more! Cheers, Terry.

I bought it, 1976 CB750F.  It is yellow and has all the parts including the side covers.

Put two cycles in storage this week and tore a third (CB550F) down to the frame and engine. Got all winter to modify it. The fourth (CB450) won't be put away, but will ride on days that I get a hankerin' to get out this winter.

Took the 400 to a friends place yesterday and he helped me make a wiring harness from scratch. Now there is no extra wires all the wires actually have a purpose, it's very clean. We also hooked up the keyless ignition I got from motogadget. I still need to get some switches for the blinkers and make brackets for them though.

This little unit really cleans things up.

I added my NOS lockhart oil cooler and adapter from Terry.  I also put an inline manual bypass valve from Jeggs for cold weather riding. 





I also put in a NOS oil pressure switch and oil pressure gauge.

I made these, took hours with Dremel and files. (seemed like a good idea at the time  )

1 Went to Church.

2 Sold the last of my parts bike today,  bought for $300.00, kept 3 parts of it for myself and sold the rest for $423

3 Monday Bought a 72' CB500 for $250.00 sold it the next day for $400

4 Cleaned up my CB550 that im almost done with, just need to do the decals and new clutch cable.

5 Cleaned the carbs on the 71 Scrambler, had been hard to start, now fires right up, synced the carbs up as well.

6 Stared at my 60's Honda Dream 305 for a few seconds.

I sent my K2 head off for bead blasting yesterday, the rest of my engine looks like new so I couldn't live with the old flaking paint and baked on carbon and grease, so it'll look nice when I get it back in the next day or two.

I made a horrifying discovery yesterday, I cleaned up my slightly rusty valve springs in POR-15 tank cleaner, and I thought, "why not dunk my grotty valves in this stuff overnight?". Well, we used to soak our gas plugs from our assault rifles in Coke as the acid therein was great for removing carbon, so it all made sense to me.

When I got home from work I was delighted that the carbon was all gone, but not so happy to discover that the valve stems were no longer nice and smooth, but looked a little bit "chewed" about an inch or so above the base of the valve, and are now a sloppy fit in a good valve guide I used to gauge the clearance.

Oh well, luckily I've got a few spare sets of good used valves, so I pulled out another grotty set and soaked them in brake cleaner overnight, and checked them this morning, and they look nice and clean. I guess I'm still learning...........

Installed the rebuilt oil pump, installed the sump cover, rolled it over, got my top end parts ready. Up next: Ring fitting and install, pistons install, studs install, clean the liners then install the cylinders.
