Topic: What did you do to your bike today ?

Charged up my 500 after the new Dyna S, and my bike's crappy wiring decided to drain the battery.  My trickle charger and an extension cord will now be part of my mobile arsenal until I take her apart and re-wire.

changed the bike back to a condition were it can pass the mot warrant, got that, changed it back again to how I like it, then rode down and registered mee bikey, then went for a nice long blat. I love spring time.

Yes, the fan that blows the cold air from the freezer to the fridge side is probably dead.
At least that's the first thing I'd check.
On a refrigerator all the cooling is in the freezer and a fan forces cold air from the freezer to the "unfrozen" section.
The fan is usually very easy to replace and costs ~$35-75 depending on the model.

rode to work its 45* here.  I really get to chill (no pun intended) on my ride to and from work. 17 miles cross town. very relaxing

had/have one (refridg) that ice had blocked the tubes that allowed cold air to the rest of it. Unblocked it with a full defrost (it was a frost free type) and a coat hanger. Has be working ok for 2 yrs now. If it was ever laid on its side the compressor is likely shot.

Well, I changed the oil & filters on Kay, filled the petrol tank, added some Stabil to it, and put it away for the winter.

After hemming and hawing about taking on the wires in the bucket, I finally got down to business today. It was dirty, frustrating and painful. But I was hell bent to get these new drag bars on that I have had waiting for 3 weeks.

 Got the wires disconnected, through the old bars and the new ones on. Struggled with cutting the switch housing, panic'd about the length of the OEM cables and ten finally got it to SEEM like it will work.

Daylight savings stole my "workshop" on the curb here in Brooklyn at 4:59pm!!!  Had to call it quits.  

Tomorrow I will reconnect all the wires, Adjust the clutch, and perhaps bleed the brakes....oh boy.

I'm right in the middle of 2 lights, and under a tree. Not ideal, but I'm making due. What I really need is one of those miner headband lamps. If I hadnone, I definitely would have nailed the wiring at least. How's that for 70's vibe?  It would go right along with the bike!

you can get a little led clip on light at the Dollar store, don't know if you have them out there, I just clip one on the bill of my baseball cap

Very shortly daylight savings time will be the least of your worrys, that clip on light won't help with the wind and snow

That's why i am rushing to try to get all these things done.  Supposed to be 60-degrees today and sunny.  A little wind is OK.  When the wind starts to kick up off the east river in a few weeks...no dice! 

I am on the search for one of those lights today, and if I'm lucky, I'll stumble across a really cheap mobile garage that I can place right out front of the apartment building!

yesterday, i got my $250 CB750 beast running,   vavles, timing, cleaned carbs (1 float valve was stuck, and one was in backward from PO)  lol  no wonder 2 cylinders didnt fire.  Electrical is a mess, so thats next.

thing sounds great now.  i posted a vid in my "latest find" thread

Put my new clutch cable on and went for a couple of 2 hour cruises today, it was sunny and 15 C here...about 60 F for those south of the border,will probably be one of the last good days here before the temps start to drop and the snow flies

Never have problems with the cold here, but the bloody humidity plays havoc with spray painting without a booth.....

G'Day Derek, I've got an old electric clothes drying cabinet here (not a tumble dryer...........) that I use to warm parts before I paint them in winter, and to dry them after I've sprayed them. Even if it's under 10 deg C the parts will stay warm outside the cabinet long enough to spray them before I put them back in the cabinet to dry. I swapped a slab of beer for the cabinet around 15 years ago and it's proved to be one of the most important tools in my garage! Cheers, Terry.

Even if it's under 10 deg C the parts will stay warm outside the cabinet long enough to spray them before I put them back in the cabinet to dry. I used to use a fan forced heater to heat parts when i lived in Sydney.....worked a treat, it would make the parts that hot i had tolet them cool before painting......Painted a F2 900 Boldor in the middle of winter using that method....
