Snowed about 7 or 8 inches last night.
Went for a ride to meet with the BC Vintage bike group, nice meeting. A bit hairy riding on the packed snow.. :o Bike rides better with Universal treads on it.. Cant wait to get the kneeler sidehack on it... be easy in the snow..

Found out I need a new horn.  For some reason the PO actually cut a hole in the cover. The horn still works but it sounds like a wounded goose. :-\

Pulled the carbs again to clean.  Third time I hope is a charm, lol.  The last two times I cleaned the carbs I forgot to clean the fuel lines.  Darn PO's red liner gumming them up again.

Noticed three boots movable, pulled them off to wintergreen them.  The clamps were screwed all the way down too.

Decided to get between the fins below the boots.  Glad I did cause I found what looked to have been dirt dobber nests.  No dobbers just plenty of dirt.  Wonder how I missed that.

While I was there, Mother'd the case and valve cover.  Oxidation had to come off.

Actually worked on the bike yesterday, just now working out the list of what needs done and the order in which to do it all.  All in all I got a pretty good deal on the bike, I think about another $250 and it will be a very good road worthy machine.  I guess it was a good thing I decided to keep some old PD carbs I was given.  Turns out I'm gonna need some parts off of them after all.

Snowing outside so spent some time working on seat pan.   First one I've ever done.  I made one heck of a mess but should look and work good after I trim it up.

Lost the headlight, front running lights and the left blinker.  Headlight works in the #2 position of the ignition switch. Started digging through the wires, boy that PO went nuts on the wiring.

Found three green wires soldered together and that was spliced into a red wire into a brown wire and then it is connected to the start solinoid.  I gotta strange feeling the fuse box gets no juice, could not pull a reading from it and the two red wires from the fuse block connecter are spliced together.  Found a loose homemade ground wire, pulled it off and the rear running light is brighter.  Ground it, it dims.

I got more work to do, lol.

Went down to the Illinois Secretary of States office and got the title transfered into my name and also had them put the frame number (not the engine number) on the title. What a pain the A$$. 3 hours but it was worth it!!  ;D

Ripped apart the junk carbs I have, in order to get the arm for the choke linkage that I need.  These PD carbs are proving to be a might bit more technical then I anticipated.  I guess there is no better way to learn then to do.

You painted the frame with the engine in it Derek? And you're gonna now paint the engine in the frame? Can I ask why? It looks like you've only got about half a dozen bolts to remove and you can do it properly mate, is this an exercise in half-arsed-ness or am I missing something?  ???
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I took the blue K2 for a ride and 10 minutes in, it missed and farted, and stopped running on all four cylinders. Bugger. I looked down when I was sitting at the lights and noticed fuel running out of one of the overflow pipes. Turns out one of the float valves was screwed, so I replaced it with a shiny new "needle and seat" and presto, no more leaks and it's running on all four again.

I also noticed that the spark from #2 and #3 coil was a fair bit weaker than 1 and 4, so I replaced the coils with a set of Dyna 5 ohm coils and silicon leads, and it ran much smoother. I took it for another ride, did around 30 miles and it went faultlessly, but it was starting to rain, so I turned around and came home, the new owner has already paid me for it, and he's picking it up on Saturday, so I best not crash it! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Put on a fairing in anticipation of this summers epic journey! Haven't gotten to really test it out yet (it's my first fairing) but got it up around 75 for a few seconds today on the way to work and it was really cool just watching the scenery go by and not being blasted by the wind nearly so much. I saw a couple bikes in Yellowstone with these fairings this past summer while driving across country w/ my girlfriend in the VW bus and they were obviously on a long trip (a sweet CBX and a Suzuki of some sort from the same era) so I'm hoping to use it for my xc trip this summer. I've been bouncing around options ranging from finding an old Windjammer to trying one of those "Slipstreamer" fairings. I like the look of the "viper" best and it's pretty cheap so I figured I'd try it first. So far so good.
