Here are all 11 BOTM winners for 2009.  You can take your time voting as this voting thread will run through mid December.

This year looks like to be some fierce competition.  So bring out all you have.  Last year we had 145 votes, 122 posts and 4974 page views for the 2008 BOTY thread.  Wonder if we have the nerve to beat any of those.

Thanks y'all.  My first BOTY.

Ok, I may have jumped the gun and if I have, I truley am sorry and will get this worked out.  The comment below from Steve may have confused me.  But I do see 12 months listed in that BOTY.  I should have dug deeper and got it straight.

Lastly, January through November we will vote on "bike of the month", in December we will vote for "bike of the year" based on all the 11 winners of "bike of the month" throughout the year.

Here are two posts from last month that no one seemed to notice and smack me for it, lol.

I think it is time for me to take a break.  I believe Steve has it next month with BOTY - Gonna be interesting.  Don't forget to update the BOTM page on the SOHC4.net main page.

Hey y'all.  I have inherited BOTY so I will be putting it up in couple days.  Way too much going on at the house in the evenings and the work machine is a bit too locked down to create it here.

No break for me this month 

Voting for the BOTY will run longer than the BOTM becuase the nominee's have already been nominated, all 11 of them.

So, after going through this background stuff again (No real instructions come with this job).

I need to come up with a way to squeeze in December BOTM 2009, BOTY 2009 and January BOTM 2010.  I will gladly take suggestions.

In the mean time, I will stop the voting (may need to reset it, so we can get December BOTM running).  Might be a short one.

I am hoping y'all might see how I messed up and hopefully I can get this right next year.

fwiw tt i had understood the criteria as you did. further, i see the logic of both points of view, 12 vs. 11 botm. if you note i offered my kudos to you when i thought you were taking a break from botm. you must like the extra "hassle". 

this coming from a guy who can barely tie my shoes.

how can you have a bike of the year contest for one month out of the year and have a bike of the month contest for 12 months out of the year at the same time?

Ok, I am back.  Finally have some time to get back to this and sorry for the delay.

I have read your comments and spoken to Steve via PM and we went back and forth a couple times.  Everything makes sense but we need to try and keep this going one way.

I will update the rules page with this and I will try and clean up the rules as they are a bit incomplete and not just in one one place.  When I say "not just in one place", I mean that there were rules created during the months before I took this over by the previous mod that are buried in some of the threads that you might find or might not (been deleted).

To address some of the agreed upon suggestions in the previous posts, having two or three contests at a time is kinda crazy.  Sometimes we have two, three or only four bikes in a BOTM (one month there were none!).  How are we gonna fill so many contests and try to keep up with each one?  How do we decide what goes into one contest?  Does someone not get voted for because they thought that they were already done (because there was another one going on)?  Do we really have enough time to do all off this in such a short amount of time?

The above questions (just a short list) are not to get answers from but just to show what tangled mess it can become and really just not worth the time and hassle.  It just would take away from the respect and fun that we get from these contests.  For me, I can say it would ruin it but I cannot speak for anyone else really.

Voting will be turned back on.  We have plenty of time left to complete thie BOTY.  I will start the January 2010 BOTM closer to about the 10th of December (not a firm date) and maybe let it roll over a couple days into January to the close.

So, lets get BACK TO VOTING!

really valid point about the the occasionally slim pickin's not to mention the added complexities of something designed to be fun rather than a job.

we're not trying to fill a calender here, that project is an afterthought and can be addressed other ways.

Why not just throw the Dec. BOTM in with the next years BOTY candidates?  Gives a full 12 bikes, lets you have the BOTY taken care of in the current year without having to squeeze yourself for time.  Seems like some of the car mags do it that way.
