New member..1970 CB750K0 in Toronto
« on: October 28, 2009, 08:45:18 PM »
Hello everyone..Just bought a CB750, 1970 K0. I just finished restoring a 1966 Honda CB77, and I've got the vintage Honda bug! Been thinking about something bigger, I wanted to get a 750 and found one within a week. I'll be picking it up next week, so I thought I'd check out this site. I'll upload a pic when I get it home. it's mostly complete and in good shape, just wondering about any issues with this bike, or things to watch for. Thanks, John Dymond, in Toronto, Canada.

Hey John, welcome to this group - there is no vaccination for this bug.  I live north of the GTA just south of the 705 area, so I'm probably in your riding area.  Be sure to post some pictures, including that CB77.

Hey Hondanut, here's the Superhawk (1966 CB77). Finished it last year.

Say, that Superhawk looks nice!  You have the high bars on it like mine originally had, which makes it very comfortable for riding (mine now has clubmans).  I was very struck by your license plate number, as its very similar to what I first had on my bike.  I still have that plate and have it mounted on my restored Super Cub.

yes, I had those bars re-chromed before I realized they were pretty high, I'd like the lower ones, are had thought of putting on the early style low bars. You still have the Superhawk? love the windshield on the cub!

Yes, I still have the Superhawk, but the Cub I now have is not the original one that I had as my first bike.  The Superhawk has changed to this over the years, and I've also changed a bit. :-[

Nice looking KO there. What is the history? Does it run? OEM KO carbs or were they upgraded to the K1 carbs? Are you going all OEM stock? Looks like a real nice bike for sure.

Bought it in Toronto, Came out of New York state some time ago, not sure when. I bought it not running, although i was told it had run, but rough, thought it needed carbs cleaned. Kicks over fine. I'm going to restore it correctly, I love the look of these bikes. However, I'm not sure I'm going to worry about the slightly newer carbs. I mentioned in another thread they have linked carbs. I'm not sure whether the actual carbs are changed or not. Can you add the linkage to the older carbs, or what that a completely different set up? would like to get the original air box, probably one of the re-pro's....I'm trying to decide on the color, red or gold, how do you like the Candy Gold, Johnie? I see you have one that color

No, you can't add the 4 cable linkage to the K1 carbs. But no big deal. You are not after a NY showcase bike right. You probably want to ride it like most of us. As far as should you go gold or red, I really like both. The only reason I stayed ruby red is because it was born with that color. But I still had to have a gold and found the K1 20 miles from my house this past March. I have seen the air box on eBay but pricey.
