Freeze dried frame cleaning discovered in Canada
« on: January 31, 2006, 05:56:38 AM »
I wanted to work on my K2.
As luck would have it a nor'easter blew in, a real blizzard and my  1972 CB750 K2 was buried.
The temperature dropped to minus 29 overnight.
So the next day I shoveled it out and brought it in to my warm shop. I took my rubber mallet to hit the frame to knock the snow off and to my surprise all of the dirt and grime shattered like glass and fell right off along with the snow and ice. This left a smooth clean surface. I was able to warm up the frame and paint it that day.

They are not all the same!

Nothing is of great value until it is finished.

Thanks, but I'll stick to the old fashioned way. You know, where water is actually a liquid.  ;D

Hey seebee- thats a good one. There are many phenomena unique to our Great White North - how about when its extremely cold  and liquids freeze instantly and you have to keep shuffling backwards when you leak outside.

Us Nordiners gotta slick setup huh? And during a hailstorm with gusts to 120kph, its a free sandblasting. ;D

Good thing you didn't stick your tongue on the frame while you were dragging it back into the shop.

One thing we must keep in mind when stating temperatures is at -40 both scales read the same.

Careful, things can start to get pretty brittle at those temps. I wouldn't even think about liq. nitrogen.  :o ;D
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.
