Thats because no sport bike uses that size of rim that I know of. Too much flex I suppose. Course the 77/78 us a 17 rear.

One mans 'sporty' is another mans "motorcycle equivalent of an aesthetically challenged dwarf".
Well the 69-76 is certainly aesthetically challenged!

 ???

The early k's are the epitome of classic UJM aesthetics.

If one finds them unpleasant to look at, I'd suggest a completely different kind of bike instead of murdering their (subjective) beauty.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who heard that squeak, or whistle, or whatever it was.
Flatslide carbs will produce that that whistle sound. I hear it on my FJ which runs FCR's. Some of the snap to the engine is the fact those TMR's have an accelerator pump.

If one is blind! ;D  See to me, those years are the best to chop up. Toss the ugly front fender. junk the ugly gaitors.  beat some knee dents into the tank. The seat is so homely that I would ALMOST put on a king/queen! I guess I just do not use enough ben-gay to think the early years are nice looking, except for the engine of course. But don't worry, you can like the early years all you want! More of the later ones for me and vice versa! So we both can win.

After about the 50 second mark, it squeeked just about every throttle blip.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

The red one has a better overall aesthetic to me but still...maybe being from the 60's and 70's it seems hard to improve an already great shape.

I remember the chopper-uppers in those days saying something like that about the front fenders, too.

...until their first road trip to Sturgiss or Yellowstone, in the rain & snow...  ::)  ;D
...with the constant drool down their jacket zipper that came from the stream-between-the-eyes that comes from having a short (or missing) front fender...

Which seat style do you not like? I really liked the K0 ducktail and the original K2 wasp-waist ones, myself (K2s quite rare to find today, miss mine). There were 4 seat styles on the K0-K6.  ;)

My old GSXR-1100J had 18 inch wheels standard, i ran "comp K' metzelers in "R" compound, i had a look and they are still made, just under a different name, here's the link.
