HELP! CB450 twin spewing gas from breather tube
« on: November 10, 2009, 12:41:11 PM »
It's a '72 CB450 twin.

I started it this afternoon after having not been started since Saturday morning and it began spewing gas from the breather tube for at least 30 sec while running.

- I took the air filters off and the gas was not coming back through the carbs
- I took the plugs out and turned the engine over and few times and no gas was coming up from the cylinder
- No gas was getting spit out the exhaust while running

I'm kinda at a loss.  I just dont know where the gas is coming from to only be spewed out the crankcase breather vent tube.

Please help.
.a slow bike that runs great is a lot less frustrating than a fast one that doesn't.

Check your engine oil for smell of fuel, but I think it's more likely the fuel was coming from the carb bowl vent/overflow tubes and maybe running over the other vent.
