My First Build - 73 CB500 Bobber
« on: September 23, 2009, 04:29:30 PM »
Well, I picked up my first bike about 2 weeks ago, a 1973 Honda CB500. I thought I would make a thread here to document my build, but I will warn you, it will be a slow build. Anyway, my plans as of now are to get a weld on hardtail, solo seat, drag bars, sporty tank and misc bobber-ish type things. I am going back and forth between rebuilding my current forks, or going with an inverted sport bike front. Also, not sure on wheels or size, but I know I want wire wheels and a set of Avon Venon tires. Who knows, if I can convince myself to rake the front on my own I may do that as well.

Day I got it:

After 4 hours of tear down (just need the front end off now)

I saw a thread not long ago on one of two forums that I can find now...about how to rake your bike DIY style. Basically cutting a V in the neck and bending it outward....if I rake mine, this is probably how I'd do it...but still researching
