Stator coil output to rectifier wires
« on: May 10, 2010, 01:41:07 PM »
There are three yellow wires from the stator coil that go to the rectifier. Does it matter which yellow wire from the stator coil bundle plugs into which yellow wire that goes into one of the three rectifier inputs? They are all yellow but I lost my little tags I made when I was polishing and now I don't know which stator wire went to which rectifier wire. The wiring diagram suggests it matters but I don't know.

It does not matter.

OK, I'll go with that. You say it with such authority, I couldn't possibly question it.  :D

Generally speaking in elecrical stuff, if wires have the same colors they have the same 'value', so it does not matter which goes where, as Bodi points-out.
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

OK.
I just found it weird that three separate wires would travel from the stator up the frame and to the three rectifier inputs instead of just one wire. Maybe if I understory the rectifier, it would make more sense.

The  alternator stator coil has 3 windings with one end of each connected together and the other end of the winding connected to one of the 3 yellow wires which connect to the rectifier and each one ' gives-up' it's + pulse and it's - pulse to be fed to the battery  terminal.....it's a very efficient way of producing energy to charge the battery, basically 3 phase ( 120deg. ) alternating current rectified to DC and fed to the battery.

I understand now. Thank you. So it doesn't matter in which order the rectifier feeds the battery because it's only one at a time and the sequence is not important just like the yellow wires. I'll get it eventually.
