hello from CT with my free 550
« on: November 12, 2009, 07:26:32 PM »
Hi sohc4 freaks! I am very pleased to have found this place, been searching all around the site gathering info to get this 77 550K up and running. A friend called and offered me this machine, been sittin since 1985 but the motor is not stuck, has good compression, fat blue sparks and the carbs are looking great after a weekend of cleaning them. Hope to hear it fire up fairly soon. :)
Again, great site, I have saved lots of time already just lurking around for info.
Any other CT area members? Im round New Haven..

I am from Connecticut, north of you near Hartford.  Like yourself I just joined because I aquired a 1972 CB500K2.  Compression is good, nothing is seized, tank is solid, carbs are rebuilt, the only problem I have with it is with the electrical harness.

We have a member, Tivag (?), who was rebuilding a 550 (or 500) in CT.  Was doing a graduate degree in library science at UConn, as I recall.  You might look for his old threads on here.

I left CT in '76, but still go back for family visits.  Raised in Stamford.  In the late 90s I worked in West Hartford while living over the line in Mass.
