Nothing personal at work here, just routine, long overdue forum maintenance.
Your post numbers are going to drop whenever we go in and clean out old stale threads in the forums - something that is necessary to keep this system working efficiently.
The good stuff in any of the forums gets moved into the FAQ or remains in the forum for posterity. The trivial stuff goes to the dust bin eventually.
Posts to the tech forum stay there unless they are long unanswered questions so far down the list that no one will ever see them again, don't add anything to a thread that is being archived, or contain information that gets compiled into the FAQ. Posts to the open forum are by their nature more timely, often irrelevant to the real purpose of these forums (as in not about SOHC/4 bikes), and sometimes nothing more than a smiley face
- that forum is going to be kept to about 6 months of messages but the ageing out won't be automatic since there are some good threads there which will be kept around. What stays and what goes is at the discretion of the moderators.
I think it is a reasonable policy, but you are welcome to argue with it.
