Maybe he saw one of the James Bond movies where the dude
has a car that can go underwater. ::)

Probably the best way he could find to get his money back. Insurance scam perhaps?
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Well, I noticed that his spoiler is stuck at the full open position. That doesn't happen until AFTER 120mph if I am not mistaken(maybe even higher). So this idiot was going WAY fast when he "dropped his cell phone and was distracted by a pelican"! Worst of all he lives about 30min from me. If I ever see that car, I swear to God, I will follow it and slap him for being so dumb!!!

Not that this guy isn't a complete douche, but in his defense I imagine it would be difficult to drive that car at anything even resembling normal speeds.  120 probably feels like you're just idling through a school zone. ;D

Oh god, I'm going to be sick. Low flying bird and a cell phone... must. kick. this. guy. in. the. balls.

Maybe I'd have some sympathy if it wasn't a perfectly STRAIGHT stretch of road.

They claim 40MPH - they had to slow down to keep him in frame supposedly.

The fact that this video even exists is amazing!  This is one of the rarest production cars on the road, it happens to get crashed into a lagoon in Texas, and somebody gets the whole thing on video?

I, for one, believe the pelican theory.  I can't drive mine without those damn pelicans attacking.

Looks to me like he just fell asleep at the wheel.  Probably doesn't want to admit it, so he made up that lame story that still doesn't get him off the hook for being at fault.

I think that the person taking the video must be a part of the scam

He does appear to drive over a fair distance of bumpy (and from the other video muddy) grass/dirt before hitting the water. Now this is a sports car so it is low and has to be somewhat stiff, so you would think that would be teeth chartering. Now it may just be the camera angle but it doesn't even look like he spins the wheel to get it back on the road, just drives on straight into the water. It also doesn't look like the airbag deployed.

I don't think it is an insurance scam. Why risking your life? Just go to the wrong part of the city and park the car on a desert, dark street. It won't be there when you are back, go to the police office and report the steal. After all, you can park where you want, don't you?

To me it looks more like a jealous wife/husband. The important question here is: was the driver the owner of the car?

Come on, everybody knows only Aston Martins can drive underwater.
One day, I will put up a signature.
