Couple points, if I may:

1.  The GF looks great!
2.  I'm sorry, but I hope you are unable to get the bags to fit on the bike.  The bike looks great the way it is...the bags are going to ruin it, IMHO.
3.  Use a cometic head gasket, if you're not going to O-ring the head, then ensure you re-torque the head after it has been "heat cycled" a few times
4.  Master cylinder leak?  New seals for the cylinders, and possibly new crush washers for the banjo bolt.

Gosh Simpson, your KO looks like mine... ;D It really does look great in that picture. Are you planning on taking a long trip that you need all those hard bags?

Couple notes from today...

1.) Can't help but be worried all gaskets are oil tight. Hopefully I did a good job. Used a little Yamabond in the trouble spots.
2.) Noticed the steering head had a dimple stop pointing straight. Thought I would be forced to upgrade to modern bearings but I remembered on ball bearing was found after assembly last winter. I took it apart and added the ball, tighten and test. All seems smooth and fluid now.  :D
3.) The rear swing arm original collar fell out of the bushing when I moved the swing into place today. I think it would be a wise time to upgrade to brass. I'd like to keep it original but last summer I felt awkwardness in the corners, especially when riding two up. Now to find a supplier for these things.  ???

Thanks Joe! Appreciate the advice. Understand your thoughts on the saddle bags, it has been an acquired taste over the last couple years. Reserve judgment until its complete, I had them mounted and the atheistics might surprise you. Fitment seems good.

The top case is only for long trips and will be removed when not in use. Those things never look good!

Absolutely! My girlfriend and I have traveled enough last summer to know the CB750 does the job just fine. We will step up to the Goldwing few years down the road. This year will most likely do more coastal and mountain exploration. Weather permitting we will be at Laconia. The only issues we had last year was the seat comfort and luggage. The old foam had collapsed and became painful after an hour.The new Yamiya feels amazing so far.

You will like the Yami seat. I have one also with the red foam and it is real comfortable. It better be good for the cost... ;D

Okay, it's been a fruitful week I think, pending I get no oil leaks.  ;)

1.) Waiting on carb parts getting nickel plated parts, been a month, starting to get irritated
2.) Ordered bronze swing arm bushings from partsNmore
3.) Broke 8x56 chrome finish bolt in triple tree, they are hard to find, using old one  ???
4.) Waiting on a the lower NOS rubber brake hose in shipping
5.) Waiting on saddlebags and case to be painted
6.) Waiting on saddlebag mounting hardware in shipping

Not sure how I'm going to chrome the mounting hardware and saddlebag cages yet.
Looking for a reasonable cost solution. Johnie can you pull some strings at the Chrome Shop?  ;D

Bought the remaining hardware and secured saddlebag brackets in place as design by me and machined by an extremely helpful friend.  :D

SOLID!

I could not be happier with fit and finish. Think I will clear coat the parts.

Now to buff the chrome out.

I only as I am planning on something similar in the future. Here is a photo of my 74 2-up...I agree it can be done...this was a 1200 mile trip over 8 days to the Adirondacks, NY.

That is a fantasic pic there Andy. There is no way I could get my wife on that long a trip on the 750. We have done it on the Wing, but her butt could not last that long on the CB. And she has a small butt too.  ;D

Hi Andy, It only mounts to the frame at the rear shock and signal light mount only. I built in a heavy steel (not alum) support bar going to the lower part of the saddlebag cage because I was worried about bouncing/jiggling/sag under heavy loads. This seems to really stabilize the load (without road testing yet, just me jiggling). At first I was worried about only two bolting points, but Gordan re-assured me his Bates saddlebags are stucturely sound with similar mounting. He described holding a 12 "sodas" very easily with little sag. For me, I needs it to carry 3-5 bottles of wine each side need be. We enjoy winery tasting and buying along the way (no we never drink and ride, wine gets spit out). Additionally it might have to carry a weekend worth of cloths for 2up. These paricular saddlebag are a bit more roomy than the Bates, which was a selling point for me. Last year we took a trip from Virginia Beach to Ocracoke Island racked up about 450 miles. Temperatures coming home were about 97 with high humidity. The engine never complained. The riders might have complained though... That old seat hurt my ass so bad, I was sitting on folded shirts coming home. Not to mention my wrists from the strong throttle return. Throttle issue solved with a cruise lock.  ;D

Here are different photos of us traveling last year. If you look close, we have a cooler strapped to the back in one photo.
The saddlebags should be a big help!
