Topic: 750 F muffler project

 Are there many of us that could use a 750F muffler? I have 3 honda stock F headers all in good to like new condition but not 1 muffler. I plan to make one for my bike if it works out maybe more. Anyone else have an F exhaust but need a silencer? I'm thinking stainless steel.

I have two 78 F2 bikes. The header and muffler on both bikes are OEM and I also have one spare OEM header. The complete system on one bike has seen better days so I am on the lockout for a good used system. I like the original because it is quiet but at the same time feels/sounds powerful. I am mildly interested in what you are wanting to do but because of the distance between our two countries I don't think it would be viable for me - freight woul be the killer. I guess I am  really replying to get your post bumped to the front. Good luck, I will keep watching. pat

I would be interested to see what you come up with.  My stock muffler is in fine shape but unless I find a decent spare it would be nice to take it off and put it one the shelf to preserve it for later.

my 76 cb750f runs a 28 inch long by 2 1/2 inch diameter thrush glasspack...slid right on factory f header.

So far I have the 3 1/2" slash cut stainless pipe on and it really looks good. The stainless hanger is made, it needs tigged on. I'm going to hang it from the rear peg bracket instead of the stock bracket. I have found a temporary baffle and am looking at some options for more permanant ones. It sounds awesome without the baffle but too loud for any long distance riding. I need to do some carb work dang it, off to the shop. D.

The carbs are OK now, I hope. The bracket is welded on and the muffler is mounted. I will try to post a pic monday. I should have a test baffle next week.

The carbs got me behind, They are better but not quite right yet. I did get in a test ride between rain showers. The temporary glue can baffle works but does not sound very good. I am going to order a baffle for a sidemount car header. The question is what is the best connection at the collector, for now I removed the stock gasket and just slipped it on. I may be able to expand the end, split it and use the factory gasket and clamp.  Not everyone has these stock parts though.  Now where did I leave that camera?

My 76 750F muffler has holes in the bottom.

I seen that there were Suppertrap slipons 21/2 dia mufflers with disc to add.

The cost is around 300 but I am not sure on what they would sound like or run like.

I like the stock it fits the bike and sounds quiet and good.

Let me know what you come up with.

 Thanks, that reminds me, I need an 1/8" drain hole in case rain water gets in or vapor condenses in the pipe. I am shopping for a better price on materials but so far I haven't improved on this one. It should be a good deal less than that price.

If you're doing stainless a drain hole may not be necessary. Wouldn't be a bad idea however. My 91 Acura Legend still has the original complete stainless exhaust.

I was thinking of protecting the head pipes and baffles with the drain. Just finiky sometimes. The baffles may be here by the end of the week.
