Have you considered something like these 1 off digital printing sights? They really are quite amazing. You can set you own mark-up and there's no overhead (no I do not work for them)...but I do work for Skateboarder Magazine (http://christopherbywater.blogspot.com/) It sounds like you are pretty far along but if you need any help (diagrams, layout, illustration) I'd be happy to help out in anyway...

Would a bound and a binder version be a viable option?
For the record, John Wyatt's Original CB750 book which is no longer available has an asking price of around $200 for a used copy.
10 years ago the off the shelf price was around $50.

Color in the format in which you have the most control. I like both Bobby R's and Old Scrambler's ideas. Think you could make the first appendix a compendium of the best translations from the original Honda manuals? I'd be down for a pre-order too.

All depends on exactly what the intent of this book is. If it's to be a type of shop manual then the 3 ring is the way to go as the pages will lay flat to refer to on the shop bench.

That too. A 3 ring book can be updated, pages added for notes, chapters rearranged, etc.

I hate 3 ring binders for shop manuals. Binders are just crummy, all that work you've done to have it in an ugly Trapper Keeper?

What about spiral bound? I have all my manuals printed up at Kinkos and spiral bound, that's my fav way to have them. You could sell the book shrinkwrapped as loose leaf paper and allow people to have them bound however they like. Most any print shop has a wide range of binding options, including book format, spiral and 3 ring.

I vote 3 ring colour for ease of reference in the shop - but perhaps not all photos need to be colour since often photos are grey parts w/o much colour definition anyway.
2.  Ditto re glad to prepay if it helps - It would be great if Hondaman could post an email address or PO Box address with a suggested deposit amount towards the purchase of the book - leaves a bit of room for price flexibility later depending on final cost and I'd feel good thinking I was helping out in some small way towards such a great resource...

I like the spiral bound idea. 3 rings are cool cuz the pages lay flat, but the rings don't. spiral dealies seem more manageable.

honestly, though I don't care. it will have a place of honor in my home, so it will not need be to be bound practically. you could use motorcycle chain and I'll still buy one.

i voted color because it would make things easier to identify, and for the no so literate better for understanding, and it would just make it worth 100% more to me.  

 now for the binding i don't like 3-ring, pages fall out and then you have to fix them. and nice binding is worth it.. now as for what b.o.x.k.n.i.f.e. said, i do have a few spiral bound and they have proven to last the tests of queeg.  
 so whens the 550 book coming out?

As greasyJ said, if it's a technical work that people are going to refer to in the workshop while they're working it helps if the book lays flat. That was the thinking behind the way 'Guzziology' was bound.

I vote for color to facilitate learning....and spiral or three ring binding to make it lay flat.  Then I don't have to touch it as much to refer to it while working.

Cost is not much of an issue, because it seems the book will only go up in value.  It's an investment.

I vote for this binding as well.  The book will lay flat and stay together well.  For those who want to add pages, I'm pretty sure you can get pre-punched pages that can be inserted into spiral bound books.  There are definitely page inserts available for the plastic comb binding for sure and that is another common binding option, but they don't lay flat quite so well.
