I love the Hyundai Assurance program, but I want that Primus tape that comes with the Taurus..... so conflicted....

Hyundai looks pretty commited to making the sale, I bet they throw a Primus cassete in...

Now that's funny.  I laughed aloud when he swung around and swished his pony tail.

If I were in the market, I would be all over that SHO. Great power, features, performance and size for the price. All together it's a great value, if you're in the market for a luxury sedan.

Now, the 93' 'fireball' taurus, that's more my style... And by style, I mean price range.

My nephew works as a mechanic at a Ford garage.  He wanted me to bring my wife over to drive the Taurus SHO, he knows how she loves to pass other cars when she is driving!

We bought a used '89 Taurus, great car with no problems.  Traded it for a new '96 Taurus LX, which our son is still driving at college.  I have put a fuel pressure regulator (less than $100) in that 3.0L Duratech motor in 135k miles.  My wife still talks about getting the 96' back from our son, since she likes it better than the '03 ZX2 Escort I bought as a runaround car.  She likes the 36 mpg, but it doesn't accelerate like the Taurus.

I just bought my third car with a Duratec this week. Fuel efficient, they're not, but the reliability and power are fantastic.

Read an article where a Ford rep said that they would have at least one of the Ecoboost engines in like 80% of Ford's vehicles within 4 years.  I think I'll wait for a year or two to purchase another car to see what Ford does.

98% of all Fords are still on the road.

I miss my 95 Taurus SHO :(

Quaife limited slip
Cobra Mustang 13" rotors and caliper upgrade
3.2 motor swap bolted to 5speed tranny
Fully loaded
Crager SS 17x8 wheels
Full manifold back exhaust
Ported and polished intake and runners
BBB upgrade...
Tokico struts
Eibach springs
Solid aluminum subframe bushings
etc etc etc...

mmmm all the goodies. Was garaged its entire life but the firewall ended up rusting apart along with the rest of the car...Was worth more in pieces unfortunately so that's how it ended up.

That was before the drilled and slotted rotors with cobra red caliper upgrade...as well as the suspension goodies to get rid of that ugly front fenderwell gap.

I've never liked those rims on anything but an old Mustang.

Yup the manual tranny cars had a 3.0 by yamaha and the automatics had a 3.2 (also yamaha) to make up for the drivetrain power loss...so a popular mod was to swap the auto 3.2 and bolt it up to the 5spd tranny. Which is what I did.

89-95 had the killer yamaha v6. 96+ had the fairless gutless 3.4L V8 that had serious cam problems. Plus the 96 and newer were automatic only.

94 and 95's are the most desirable SHO's for the most part. Rod shift linkage instead of cable, stronger tranny, better brakes etc etc.

EDIT: 96 and newer taurus's and SHO's was also the year they completely changed the body style.

Did you swap in the 3.0 cams too?

Actually I had SHOshop performance cams and adjustable cam gears...SHOshop is long gone now I think though...got my high flow equal length Y-pipe from them too...and a bunch of other stuff. Fidanza flywheel, SPEC stage 2.5 clutch...

I had a SPEC Stage 1 in my 3.0 Contour, it lasted less than 20,000 miles. I moved up to a ClutchNet "Red Light" (Stage 3) six puck sprung-hub clutch disc and SPEC pressure plate and that thing GRABBED. So much so that it wasn't fun to drive anymore. But it sure didn't slip.

I see you want to bite my turds again lammy. I have had 1 ford. I will never own another one again by choice. As such, I am not an sho expert and really dont care. I know enough that in the sho heyday, the yammy engine was the best when comparing stock. Not surprising considering that ford used a mazda engine that was a 1.8 that made about double the power as a ford 1.9. Pretty sad. Hey you like them, great.
If I wanted to pay for the gas, I would still have an S-10 pickup or blazer with a 350 stuffed in it but I prefer the 35 mpg I get in my mazda as there is just no real use for a 350 s-10.
