in the new issue of cycle world the TZ 750 was mentioned in an article, mentioned how Kenny Roberts tried to ride it, and it sounds positively brutally dangerous...........i'd love a ride on one, bet theyre not cheap to acquire or own though.

it sounds like a pissed off wasp!  Kenny Roberts on the TZ is the last 40 seconds or so i believe. they showed the modern dirt trackers for contrast to the 34 year old Suzuki.

Rings every 4th race
pistons with every 2nd set of rings
crank every season
Crankcases every 2nd crank

Not to mention shares in NGK and trannies!!!
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

That's not massively different to any GP 2-stroke though is it Brian. I mean an RS250 honda has new reeds after 150 miles, new pistons after 300 miles and new crank at 1500 miles?

I guess the TZ bits will be harder to get though....

Bucky - last TZ I saw for sale recently was £13,500 GBP and it wasn't a mint example, they just go up in price from there!

I was at the indy mile and saw that this year!

Absolutely an amazing bike. He rode it pretty hard too.

I've wanted a TZ750 (in fact, one of the very few Yamaha's I'd want to own) since I first laid my eyes on one. I wonder if Alan Milyard would make me one out of two RD400's, but then again, I'd settle for his V10 Viper, Ooooher! ;D

i found one on ebay. with 5 or 6 days left the roller was 13,000 and change and the reserve hadnt been met. oh well, i just need to get my own h2 one day.  ;D

Bucky, if you ever get serious about wanting a nasty, hairy, tire-eating H2 with 151 horsepower that comes on/off in 500 rpm - I have one with 42 pampered miles on it for sale. I can't ride and enjoy it, but it's begging for a new home for the person who can.......

No, the whole reed set-up is here in boxes. The bike starts and runs perfectly, just needs someone to ride......

'89 Hawk GT, newly acquired, daily beater...
'76 CB550, was my daily beater... my cafe project...
'72 Yamaha R5, newly acquired project... donated to my buddy...
'67 Suzuki T20, still working on her too... Currently in pieces...

There was a street leagal TZ750 that I posted last year in the For Sale section that ended up selling for $12,000 CDN (around $11,000).. It came from a collector that had a bunch of great old race bikes.

Someone's got a 1000cc twin two-stroke combination type bike in the small ads of classic mechanics this month - very weird looking.

That Kawi has more HP than a TZ !

 We saw a very nice red TZ 750 Trackmaster at the Bonneville GP.. :o

 We being, Old Scrambler, me, Rodeo, & Bill + Blonde..

 we rapidly filled the drOOl  buckets placed around it, to overflowing.. ;)

       There are approx a 12  to 15 tz 750,s (solo,s and sidecars) now being raced in the uk quite regularely and they are all using cases that are over 25 years old as there as not been any new ones available for many year. However that will change quite soon as the first batch of new cases is currently being made in france so hopefully we may see even more tz 750,s out on track next season.

I guess not but then racing any bike is not for the fainthearted among us. Just making the point that they are not as expensive to run as some would have us believe. the 750 is too dear , they sell over here for around 15 grand and unless they have a very good history [ which can be verified ] there not worth much more.
the TD!C  does look nice and original
