ART Pistons - OEM parts?

Hi gang!
I recently purchased a set of new .25 over pistons on Ebay for a CB750K0 engine (sandcast) for a price I'm very happy with but I'm wondering what the ART on the side of them stands for. They were advertised as OEM. I did a search of ART and there was not an answer.
Just curious.

There was this issue on a 650 thread also.   I'm 90% sure all my stock ones had it.  Dont have any loose to look at right now.

G'day Cliff
ART make pistons for the aftermarket but I'm fairly certain that they are not made for the CB750 anymore.
This includes the automotive (passenger and commercial) and 2 & 4 wheel bike/atv market.
I believe that they are a reasonably good quality product.

I understood that ART was the OEM vendor that Honda bought pistons from, I'm not sure if there was a secondary vendor, and I don't have any thread links to back it up. But that's what I remember reading.

Not to derail but I have 2 front brake caliper arms from either a 500 or 550 and one was marked "ART" and the other was not. I always wondered about that...

ART is a japanese Piston/ring manufacturer that most big japanese firms buy from, like Hepolite in the UK.
Most Honda pistons are art as are a lot of rings with Rikken being an alternative

All of the diff. years of stocker cb650 pistons I have seen are all stamped ART.
The 65mm pistons I snagged out of a '74 cb750 are even marked ART.

Even the stocker 61mm cb750 pistons I have are marked ART.
Have only seen stock cb750 pistons from a '77, '73(??) auto, and a few '72's.

I wouldn't doubt now and then a few non ART pistons were installed though.

No manufacturer makes 100% of the bike. Lots of parts are from specialist component suppliers and Art was Hondas main supplier of pistons.
Other bought in parts were Yuasa batteries, Nippon Denso electrics (no Lucas here  :D) and Yokahama tyres to name but a few, there were probably quite a few more.
