You may want to do a search on the forums for "pod filters" and you will find a wealth of information on what folks here have gone through to get them set up properly.

What year is your bike?  Is it an F or a K?  What carbs are on it?  What is your exhaust setup?

You will likely have to mess with rejetting your carbs to compensate for the difference in intake breathing.  There are a number of threads here with more detail.  and also threads that will tell you ur creating headaches for urself that you can avoid by keeping the stock airbox.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Stock K3, PD carbs are tuned for stock exhaust and air filter restriction.  They do not auto-adapt.  You will have to readjust the pilot screw, slide needle height, and main jet to accommodate your engineering changes.
