Sound alot better than just 'do you want fries/chips with that?' !  Makes me want to go do a graduate degree in humanities...   :D

I think there's a connection with the English expression "Cor, I could murder a...........(injun, chinese, kebab etc) meaning I'm so hungry I could gobble a curry or chinese meal or kebab or...........a hamburger.
