For Those Who Don't Know, Here Is A Bit Of Mopar History!

What you are looking at is a 1969 Dodge Charger 500. They were built to race on the stock car tracks. They had the grille mounted flush on the front end, instead of recessed like the other Chargers AND the rear window was also mounted flush instead of being recessed like the other Chargers. The 500 was the same body that was used for the Daytona later in the year. This one has the 426 Hemi engine with a 4soeed and is listed on ebay. See the link:

the ford talladega torino was built in much the same way with the flush mounted grille and the fastback window glass, though i understand they had alot of trouble with the fords keeping the rear ends down at 180mph +....yeah i'm a ford nut  ;D

Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.

Well Jeff, the Charger 500 didn't do as well as expected and that's why the Charger 500 was developed even further into the Daytona for 69' and then the Plymouth Superbird in 70'

And don't forget your 69' Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II

Bet tha WOULD be a BLAST to drive! 8)  Always HAVE been for the BIG BLOCK myself. :) Don't need to do as  much to get the power out of it, it would seem. ;)

I once read about a fella who took a 76' Volare', dropped a 440 magnum in it and once sorted out, ran in the 12's at the strip. 8)

Yeah, to me, I gave quite a bit for my GTX and then I look at the others and what the pricetag was (is) and I don't feel so bad. ;)

Got my plate made for the front of the GTX today and soon as I can get a picture of it, I'll post it here. I Am quite proud of the plate that simply says

Back in 1968, I worked at Chrysler Trenton Engine plant.  I machined the cylinder heads for the 426 hemi among other jobs.  Also hemi rods and bearing caps.  We did not assemble those engines, just shipped the parts to another facility.  I used to stop on the way in to look at the warranty return engines sitting on flat cars (Looked like the small trains you see pulling luggage at the airport tarmac.)  Rods sticking out the sides of the block etc.  Almost all were hi-po 383-440 and small blocks.  I would have loved to hear the explanation for the carnage.  "I was just warming it up in the driveway and it blew up"  At a car show a couple of years ago I saw a 68 Barracuda sponsored by the old Gratiot Auto Supply.  It had a hemi with cast iron heads on it and I woundered it they were some of the ones I had done.  Fun times.
