Solo seat on 550...
« on: November 21, 2009, 03:07:40 AM »
Just how hard would it be to add/mod a solo seat to a 550? What seat pan would y'all recomend? Is anyone making 'em specifically for them? I'm going for the 'military bike' look. (If that helps) Thanks for your input.

If you're going to hardtail it, make sure it will fit a 550.  Most of the ones advertised are designed for the 750 frame, which is slightly taller from what I understand.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm new to working on bikes. I had a 69 VW Westie that got me to enjoying older engines. Was a daily driver for 8 years. Had to sell it *SNIFF*

Do you know if they make any for the 550 frame? I guess a skilled builder could handle the modification though...

I have seen a few weld -ons for the 550 on the eBay or modify the one for the 750, or even ask the guys at TC BROS to make one for you since they are allready set up. shouldn't be any more than the 750's I also heard of a few guys who used the Weldon for the sporty's HD that is check out J&P cycle's web site and search for the frame section

Check this out for a solo seat, the New Zealand cops used them in the 70's and imported the bikes straight from Japan. :)

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
