Neat stuff.

You do good work.

Stay positive, take your time, and do little projects at a time....keeps you from getting overwhelmed (at least it works for me! $:-\$ ).

Then when the frame is done, all your completed "little projects" get bolted back on!

Thanks everyone, I'm taking the no-holds-barred approach, yet all the while labeling, photo-documenting, notetaking, bagging and creating a royal mess in my studio all at once, I WANT this thing on the road first comfy day this spring. I am the product of an art school education, i.e., creating something with beauty and meaning on an impossible schedule. Seems to work for me, as long as I have a deadline I will charge forward and whatever the outcome, it can always be changed!
Looking forward to the final product critiques!

Way to go man! I know early on several folks were saying to scrap the bike...maybe you are still gonna, i didn't read all the posts...but the work you've done so far looks really top notch. Keep at it and keep us updated

Next 5 days I have off, lots of bike stuff to do. Picked up a bunch of parts form the chrome shop today that I was having stripped: rims and bunch of other little bits. Chrome has it's place, just not on this bike. I saw a bunch of guys drilled their sprocket covers and I thought it really looked good so I got busy on Illustrator and layed out a randon pattern. Is it Swiss or Gruyere?

I then printed it out, cut and taped it to the parts.

I think it's gonna look pretty tasty when its deburred, blasted and coated. These pieces and all the engine side covers, head and head cover are going to be Eatswood's High Temp Stainless powder. Shot a few small pieces already and they look pretty nice.

but i have to say i hate your engine, hate it hate it hate it hateit!

you see im looking at that nice powder coated block on my laptop. i look up from my bench and see my motor sitting on the bench across the shop all sad and corroded, half cleaned by hand and a dremel.

keep up the good work! cant wait to see it when you finish.

While waiting for the last of the machine work to be finished on the cylinders I've been keeping myself busy working on the carbs. So I built this soda blaster the other night for less than $40. Works really well. See the piston i used to test it.

This is typical of the crap I found in each float bowl. The slides were really gummed up and stuck like glue. I let everything soak in Simple Green (the purple stuff) for days and it really helped loosen everything.

Have you ever seen pitting in aluminum like this? I'm pretty sure these are unusable especially the one pictured. The reason is more apparent in the after photo.

A green scratch pad and some wd-40 can buff that right out.

Like everthing else on your build....you gonna have to save it from the scrap heap. So far, you've done so.

Yup, the missing/corroded tips of the float pin support posts has been seen around here before. That's years worth of damage from old gas sitting and/or water in the gas from sitting too long. Forum member Big-Jim does micro-welding that could repair the posts, up to you if the cost is worthwhile. Otherwise yeah you'll be wanting a replacement body.

OH!!! I see that you still have the black plastic caps on the tops of your air screws, BTW. Don't loose those, they're impossible to find.
