Hey Bill - where you gonna mount the Dyna 2000 blue box? I'm struggling to get happy with locations for mine so could do with the inspiration and I'm sure Sam won't mind me briefly hijacking... ;)

SAM: You can ride my other AUTOMATICS my KZ 8.20 [ BUT RUNS 7.90 ]  slider,123 auto, auto shift, wheelie bar, delay box, throttle stop, car tire and if you want a BLUE BUTTON NOS ride down the 1320".  10 seconds faster than your stock CB750 you rode or our BUSA 68" to 72" ALL "STROKER 10mm." MOTOR 8.05 in 1320' auto shift, slider a "TROY SMOCK" built w/my help that smacked MUZZY'S KZ builts 1400cc ++ every time we race them. They all have single disc rear brakes and no creeping in 20 years of 2-stepping. Can't tell you the MPH and I will be standing at the ticket booth to get the ticket [ for my eyes only ] man we got secrets......... me and TROY.

MR. HONDAMATIC: Thanks for the lead on the converter fix, took your advice and bought a 1983 Yamaha XJ750RK SECA of CRAIGSLIST for $200 very-very clean  with no keys-no title [lost], no battery, flat tires, 12,000 miles sitting in his garage for three years not started = had it running in 2 hours took out on the road in a light snow day on a good road and ran 100mph. Carbs were dead on with my good SUNOCO ALL GAS [ NO ALCOHOL BLEND]  as corn is good to eat but [ ALCOHOL]  brings water and rubber parts to eat up in the tank and carbs. Read a great article in UNDERHOOD SERVICE MAG. about the right gas for racers and SUNOCO [ pure gas] was rated the best [ NASCAR ]. I'll put the CV'S on the 750 matic after a little cleaning and polishing. Put some 28-29-33mm back on YAMAHA W/ pods and sell the SECA to someone who wants a very clean drive shaft bike for $500 with 12,000 miles. Thanks again for giving me more light in this art of spinning wrenches.

Sam,
Friday arrival in Charlotte in the late morning. Expect me in the early afternoon there. You were planning some test and tune as I recall? You may be able to be tech'd in Friday, cutting the red tape for Saturday.
Looking forward to the message that it is alive and running. People are amazed how street-able Hondamatic drag bikes are. Since you build them for midrange power, they will run very happily on public roads. I like to warm my bike up at the track by idling around the pits at about 1-2 mph. It's always fun to hear someone say that I'm going to fry my clutch that way.... (or slider, when they don't see a clutch lever)
Whatever diameter the bike's rear tire, it should be geared for around 100 mph at 9,500 rpm with a 10,500 rpm redline in the ignition box. That should get you within one tooth on the rear sprocket for best et. The shift point should be right at the 1/8th mile cones/line on the track. If Sam's heart can get through the first gear wheelie, he should enjoy the rest of the ride.  Whatever you do, don't Armorall the seat! Your heart might not survive that one.... (there's a joke there somewhere about "catching a ride")

Geez. I vanish for a couple of months and look at the progress you guys have made!!

Meanwhile my bike sits out in the garage and I have touched it since October. Too damned cold to even want to go outside, let alone work on the bike. Got to convince my wife to me me bring it in the house somehow...

SAM CB750A: Worry about them clubman bars hitting the tank at the turn offs at the big end and the pipes [ CYCLE EXCHANGE ] will slide around with a little leaning on the many small short turn offs at some US tracks. MRI is not the only track in the USA so that banned is a joke and with most tracks [ PERFORMANCE MAGAZINE ] NHRA - IHRA having a 7-10 % less count in the lanes in 2010 and the economy in the can ,$3.50 diesel fuel for their rigs and lay offs by the millions workers ,drivers, riders, racers then to soon all will be opening their lanes for the dollars they need to stay alive. Come to Norwalk OHIO " BEST TRACK IN THE LAND = JOHN FORCE" for the $10,000 no box race that did cost $100 for all three days of bracket racing everthing from  7 second cars and me dial in at 17.32 on my CM400A HONDAMATIC and he came by me at the 12" line breaking out with his gas pedal mashed thru the floor pan in his $30,000 car = he lost!  BANNED is a way for them to tell you that your the person they FEAR and they want to sandbag and race the CHERRY NEWCOMERS to the track that lose ever round in one year and never come back = 7-10 % less in the lanes, I wonder why? Will this number grow in lost number of tech cards in 2011 while the President breaks the USA bank and our country?
BETTER HOPE NOT.

JWeeks knows all about the"banned" BS regarding automatic bikes

Thanks Mike.  Richard, that banned from SET with MIROCK is no joke. Being a novice to the sport, I chose the auto because I will probably need all the help I can get in the consistency department.
When you get banned because you are running a bike that the majority think is unfair, It's a smack in the face after having such a bike built and the promotor that sets the rules sides with the majority and bans you. They (the majority) race and I don't, what good is that to me? The economy will never colapse to the extent that a promotor will grab at anything to make a buck. The time will never come when a promotor has 5 or 6 Hondamatics doing battle and not a Hayabusa in sight. Banned is not a way for them to tell you that they fear you, It's their way of telling you that they are pi$$ed off having their $20,000 Busas beaten by a $200 old slow 400 Honda and taking the pi$$ out of them at every opertunity only riles them even more. Sorry if it sounds like I am coming on strong Rich but to me it just looks like you are making a rod for your own back.
