The best surprise of this year! Yes, I'm available for dial-ins. You need the help.....
We need pictures/videos of this event. If anyone not riding in the event is coming, bring your camera. For video shots look at Bill's first round win on you tube. Watch/film at halfway down the track, shooting back at the starting line - sweep the camera for the run with not too much zoom at the finish line so we can see who won and what the times were. I'd love to see Calendar Girl and Frank's bikes make video passes here, not just on facebook. Another Sam round win would also be food for the absent.
Jerry,
A lot of jokes about the rear brake on the Hondamatic. Bill's got the mounting bracket that I used on my dragbike along with the caliper and rebuilt master cylinder. The Hondamatic that Sam is riding has a smaller diameter rear rotor than what I used. Bill will need to make a mount for the rear caliper that fits the bike since what I sent will clamp air and the top half of the rotor. He has the guide. The bike doesn't go 11's until that brake is mounted and tested. It shouldn't be worked on until after the April fun. Why have I kept mentioning the rear brake needs work? I could care less if the bike goes 11.99. What I do care about is how consistent the bike is. Using your left hand strength to fight your right hand throttle rpm will always be a variable. That affects the ET and reaction times. Nobody else is concerned because the bike can go rounds as is.
I was really hoping to show everyone the difference in launching at the Virginia Cup race this year. I was going to bring one of my 'matics down with a working rear disc brake with a line lock. I'll apply foot pressure to the rear rotor, at the first yellow on the tree give it wide open throttle, and at the last yellow release the line lock. Since nobody else on here has seen time slips showing the ATM consistency of this, I was hoping to be the first to show everyone why the rear brake matters. My 'matic is just a 811cc beater but it's a better ATM than what Sam/Bill is driving.
Unfortunately, the racer who was going to Virginia with me isn't going. Something about the wife having a baby around the same time.... That leaves me unable to attend the event. That's too far for one person to drive to alone in one day ~750 miles. Unless I can find another co-driver, I won't be there. Having used up 2 friends to co-drive to past Prostar Virginia events, I'm low on people looking for a little adventure...
Next season I'd like to discuss with Bill/Sam about renting that seat for Cup events (after the rear brake is right). Bill can only drive just so many bikes and Sam will eventually run out of frequent flier miles....
I'm not just a hondamatic builder/crew chief/dial-in specialist. A few people think I can even drive them....?
Sam,
Have FUN. I wish I could afford to be there in support.
