It's an Athanas chassis, formerly built in New York State. Owner lost a legal case and closed his chassis business several years ago. I honestly don't remember the exact wheelbase. It's 3" shorter than his Top Gas standard chassis. It's somewhere between 62 and 65 inch. I requested the shorter chassis since the longer length made for a little more weight. The longer wheelbase is used for strong launches to try to keep the front end down. Since the Hondamatic I built has a high 1.7 second 60' best, it doesn't wheelie off of the line, even with the more modest dragbike wheelbase. The wheelie that it does is down track with the motor coming into the meat of the powerband in low gear only. The front wheel comes up, the wheelie bar wheels hit the track, the front wheel immediately goes back down for the rest of the run. It's very stable uneventful ride. The smoothest runs are the quick ones. 10.8's at 124 mph so far.

Thanks Jon. Sounds like a heck of a ride. Powerband wheelies! Be glad when you get it painted and ready to post some pics. Keith

Doesn't matter if it's the 10 second matic or the rat bike, all that's important is we'll all be there on SOHC's showing everyone  that these old bikes can still get the job done. Our little "rounds won" pot is just incentive among the team to show up and do good. The goal is to put an SOHC in the winners circle this season by loading up as many of these cookie cutter bikes as possible and making a top ten finish at year end.

Jo is not riding Johno, she is getting married the week after and Becci is already married. hahaha.

The Yorkshire Mile is a new discipline that's been set up because the fastest bikes have out grown the track.
Elvington is the only track we have use of and is only 1.9 miles long.
Mile racing became popular when the ECTA set one up at Maxton in Carolina, one of our members here is Keith Turk, he is the ECTA race director and although Maxton is long gone, they have a new track in Ohio.
Over here, it was stretched to a mile and a quarter but with bikes hitting 265 mph, stopping in time became a problem.
What we have now is two short speed traps set up at 1 mile from each end of the air field giving riders .9 of a mile to stop in.
Bikes then turn round and must make the return run within the hour to get a two way mean average speed.
The two speed traps are quite close to one another in the middle of the runway and the ACU have decided that they are close enough to be deemed the same track covered.

Perhaps if you do well they can sponsor some plane tickets to the States  :D And bring their bike over to Bonneville!

Not quick Jerry, it's only a road bike, about 100 tops. It is only setting the record, all the records are vacant as this is a new distance.
