Looks like SamAuto has an issue in the bottom end. Either primary chains or transmission. May have discovered part of the problem Sam had in Virginia. I'm sure Bill will follow up with the gory details once he tears into it.

I'm glad no one rode it in anger, I know it ran but I had my doubts about the box/trans.

Sam I'll post the video I think I have of Bill's run... the bike appeared to present the problem at about the same point in the track at the top of the lo range gear before the shift to hi. The bike launched hard (enough hard launches like Sam Auto has had and something is bound to happen, right?), sounded crisp in the pits (the new plug wires seemed to help too), accelerated well (Bill left a 15 foot strip in the pits) but coming up on the shift point Bill had a similar reaction to yours (sat up and looked around), so there were enough similarities to confirm it was NOT something Driver instigated!
I'll get the link up for all the videos after wrangling the homestead....

Incredible weekend it was for so many reasons, but the outpouring of Love for Mr. Sam Green was the best!
I'm booking driver coaching with you Sam Green in 2015 at Commerce and Valdosta...if we can get you out of the Tower and Hooters!

Sam,

Ian AND the the Hooters Girls missed you. Of course we did too. Lots of folks asking how you are.

Your bike sounded like it missed a gear shift and revved up. I thought 'what the hell is Bill riding?' Action plan in place.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Here is Fridays run...you can see Bill has a similar reaction as Sam at nearly the same spot in the run, however the bike did not get out of shape this time... back on the trailer and into the shop...

Hi guys this has been a great post to follow and I cant wait to see how well these bike perform, I have been following closely for info to use in my own cb750 drag bike build.

Thought I would attach a pic of my Fathers Honda 4 runs 11.8s at best consistently 12.1's on the 1/4 mile and its only and 836 with a mild cam no airshift and standard carbs.

We just took out first(dad) and second(me) for the All bike Nostalgia Class at Benaraby Australia these old bikes are a real buzz .

Keep upright and fast guys.

Nice, we like pics, thanks, Bill.   Now look, we ain't wastin' time! Pulled this yesterday afternoon, but the drugs from the dentist had me loopy! Will posts pic of engine a little later. We have some evidence I haven't had time to checkout. Leaving it for Mike Rieck, but pan has to come off to remove engine...tap once falls into oil pan! Damn! Oil screen has debris, pics a little later, been up since 1:30 trying to feel better. Trivia, tooth #3 has 3 roots!  >:( ;D

Heck Bill, you're that close, I doubt Mikes going to mind you splitting the cases to at least take a peek. He'll then know his starting point. Plus enquiring minds want to know. Lol.

I vote: DO NOT SPLIT THE CASES.

Put the oil pan back on and ship it. Don't even clean the screen.

We do not want any of the automatic hydraulic system disturbed.
Let Mike do an uncontaminated forensic study.

That was the whole point of involving Mike.

That schmegma on the screen looked like mine the first round. Not so bad the second time. Fibrous gunk. Likely from the new clutch plates, rags, towels, etc? Good lesson for all on pulling the pan after a few miles on a rebuild I'd say.

Mike, get out that magic wand bro.... maybe you can use some of your new NFL gear  :) ;) ;D

That too, but I think Mike only built the top end. It could be a simple mechanical issue but we are suspicious that the hydraulics are misbehaving. It sometimes acts like both clutches are engaged at the same time and possibly locking the tranny at shift time. We suspect that Clutch 1 may not be disengaging as it should before Clutch 2 engages. We just wanted Mike to do a methodical teardown and inspection in the event it may be something more than mechanical failure.

I think everybody is anxious to know why this beast threw our Team Captain Sam on the ground.

Crank was balanced etc. we do have the 900F crank, The 1100F rods you sent, new primary chain HyVo, I got the 73m pistons with 17mm pin, rings, clips etc. Mike you up for going for the record? Think we can do it. Can send all that stuff, if you want to try! Sam and Keith will prvide sponsorship $! Haha. Have more new clutches, gaskets, etc. C'mon Mike, lets do it right!  ;D Bill  8)
