Sam,
I'm a little nervous about the european helmet. I'd call ahead and ask the question or bring a spare Snell approved one. I've run into too may "by the book" tech inspectors who don't want to make an out of the box decision. It's always good to give a little information at the start of tech inspection. " Hi, I'm Sam from England. This Hondamatic won't go in the 9's(6's in the 1/8th mile) nor go 120 mph. I have a drivers license from England" He/she/it will take a few moments to digest the information and then try to pass you off on the least experienced tech inspector. (Don't want the hassle of explaining to the tower about the guy in while going rounds! ;)
I've been hassled for no competition license when getting my 10 second Hondamatic tech'd. Was warned that I wouldn't get a warning when I ran 9's - I'd just be thrown out. Didn't like it when I said that if I was the first in the world to go 9's on a Hondamatic I'd be overjoyed to be thrown out!  ;D ;D (I wasn't) Another time/another track I hurried to make the first time trial of the day and didn't connect the tether for the ignition shutoff to me. I had it tied up on the handlebar with nothing hanging down anywhere. The husband of the track manager stopped me from staging after my burnout. I quoted him the rulebook. I didn't get to make the run. Reconnected the tether to me and ran time trials. At the racers meeting after time trials, the track manager pulled out the rulebook and read the tether rule to everyone. She then stated that if you have the safety gear on the bike, you must run the safety gear as designed. 1/8th mile track. Yes, I took the tether off of the bike for eliminations that day. (Won the event.)
Moral: It's always better to co-operate with track officials than to butt heads with them. I survived my younger/dumber days (barely ;D)

THINK: My " TURTLE " RUNS 17.67 ET AT 77 MPH and I got every thing safety as a TOP GAS, KILL TETHER,BRAKES,CHAIN GUARD, BLANKET, FULL LEATHERS  W/THUMB LOOP, SNELL-DOT 2010 HELMET ,NECK BRACE, RACE BOOTS AND GAUNTLET GLOVES.  Asked why all the gear POPS ?  My answer put on your leather jacket ,mechanic gloves, high top tennis shoe and EARNHART WRANGLER jeans and climb in the back of my pick-up truck and I will drive up to IS 70 West Bound  AT 77 MPH I will signal you to jump out the back !!! The next sound you will hear is LIFE FLIGHT at a cost of $8200 for the short haul to the TRAMA UNIT at the BIG OSU  [ OHIO STATE ] hosp.  Sent many street racers, trick riders, Goldwingers either DOA or in TRAMA to this location. But what do I know about safety = got a wall full of adwards from 30 years in the HOOD DOING GOOD = BK911  FIREFIGHTER....  YOU MAKE THE CALL ?????????
IRON PONY in CENTRAL ,OHIO sell every safety gear I OWN and at below dealer cost !!!!!!!  Got full zip around leathers [ top grade ] for $300 [ leather thumb loop sew in by me= firefighters design so when sliding your sleeve will not fold up your arm for much pain for years ] and full race boots high tops for $65, gauntlet gloves $50 Big web site.

Slow bikes like mine get hit from behind by out of control racer trying to run me down 10 sec and slower bikes and their coming on 600cc BAD BOYZ.

We use the snell rating system here. Is it snell approved? If not yours might be equivalent to that and in that case you would be ok.

Hi Jason, just a quicky, when I come over, will my English helmet get through you tech inspection?
The helmet meets all European standards and is approved by the ACU in UK and AMA in US for racing.

Sam,
I'd use "the ACU was found to be as good as Snell by the AMA when I last raced here" line. There's a lot of opinions about how good the helmet inspections are vs how well they really protect your head. In the US they use Snell and or DOT rating systems. Really simply, the Snell specifications test for smaller object impacts against the helmet. The DOT test covers your head surviving a bigger impact. Snell testing covers every five years. You get a Snell sticker for 2000 that covers helmets made from 2000 to 2004. The Snell 2005 sticker covers helmets passing the tests made from 2005 to 2009. Snell 2010 is the most current version. Usually the Snell helmets have a fiber weave of Kevlar/Fiberglass/whatever is light for the shell. The DOT helmets usually are molded plastics without strengthening fibers in the outer shell. Yes, some helmets can meet both standards.
When you see me next, I'll bring my video camera. There will be no hiding the greatness of your riding skills. ;)

Page 70, IHRA 2011 Rule book under sportsman motorcycle.

Helmet:SN90 or newer, K 98, 2000 or SFI 31.2 or 31.2 mandatory.

Thats all they list as approved helmets.

In our neck of the woods, to dash means throw away, get rid of, chuck, dispose of,  so does that mean your looks are fading away? Doesn sound like much left to protect- lol.

How long has it run for in total Billy, the oil will need changing after 20 minutes.
This is Megacycles run in period to take the coating off of the cam, not sure if  Murphy passed on this info. Skype me if you get this within half hour of post time. ;)
