I'm just pluggin along watching, but this sounds like a good move forward guys.

Bill if you have one I'd like to see a side by side pic of the stocker and the modified convertor to try to get my head around why the diff. (You know it's a visual thing)

going to call the shop on Monday and let Robert (who did the work) know where we are with the stall speed.
He knew he could improve it just didn't know how much. Now that we have a base line to work from
there is more he can do for improvement. This was his first converter from a motorcycle and this will tell him
that its not much different from a Chevy 350. This one just spins backwards from the rest.
All in all it was a good day. we are ready to go to the track to see what it does under racing conditions and see if
its contestant. Then if we need to take it off and send it back to the converter shop to get some more stall, we can and work on the line lock
at my shop
November is right around the corner and I don't want to be working on this at the last min but if we didn't it wouldn't be racing

700-800 extra useable rpm's is a great improvement. It might get you to that sweet spot on the launch. Any thoughts about going to a bigger rear sprocket now so the motor can pull past the lug spot quicker??

Mike, do you know what rpm it crosses the finish line at now??? Is the shift light on?

Thats always my target, to have that light just coming on at the traps

I do not Frank. that is the telling part and will affect ratios etc. Some testing in order. You are very familiar with the drill....one step at a time. I heard you're good at that Frank.

16/52 now,would like to try 16/54 on it but it crosses line NOW @ 10,000 rpm's...but it's got Carrillo's,gotta try it for 1/8 mile one day for sure.Frank,when's the Red Cross race?

Bill, what did the dyno say about peak horsepower/ rpm with the current top end?? I would shoot for crossing the traps at that peak so try to make your gear choices reflect that point.

I shift my F model at 10,000. I only have HD (CR) steel rods, not the good stuff like Sam auto so i have to limit my max revs.

I think Debbie Knebel posted a target date for the Red Cross race on facebook not long ago. I will have to message her for an update.

Orangeburg doesn't have a race on Labor Day weekend which is when we did the last Pig Pickin that you attended. I'll be looking for another race on that weekend and let you know.

Went up to ZMAX(4 wide) Dragway a few weekends ago for an NHRA bracket race. I raced, the wife was the pit crew. I sucked, crappy reaction time against a street bike. My .050 light to his .007. Lost on a dang hole shot. Next time, Gladys races and i'll be the pit crew-lol. Killed two birds with one stone though. I made my crossover license runs from IHRA to NHRA, just need to send the paperwork in now and i'll be legal to race at Commerce.

Frank, peak power is at 9000rpm with usable power up to about 9,800 or so, if anything it needs gearing up a tad on the front sprocket, maybe 17 teeth. I have seen 10500rpm when I cross the line on a few occasions.

Thanks for that info Sam. I figured you guys were already on target but just wanted to ask the question anyway. Obviously there has to be a trade off when degreeing the cam on an automatic to either get low end power by advancing the cam so the bike can launch better but it does come at a sacrifice for peak top end power.

DRAGRACER: Who made the slider for your HONDA 750 ? Starting in 1999 Tony Lang of MTC made all of our BUSA and the FIRST GSXR 1000 Suzuki slider for the MSP shop in Ohio. I never saw a 750 Honda with a slider on a drag bike, most folks like a lock up better so they can ride back from the end of the track as with a slider you better push up and back or those clutches last one or two rounds............. take out and clean = restack = same as a PRO-STOCK bike every round.

No slider in any of my Honda's POPS. I have them in my Kaws. About to put one in the Zuk i'm building. All MTC. Hand clutch in the Honda cause, yes, i do ride it to the line and back to the pits.

He also agreed that we need to test it out on the 1/4 mile to see if its consistent under racing conditions
Then we can send it back and he said there are a couple of other things to improve on or modify even more but
he just wasn't sure how much the first time out. He has a base line to work from and the first step was a good improvement

Next step is the track in a couple of weeks and then back to the shop for another small step in the right direction

Certainly was a great improvement. Glad to hear he feels he can possibly tweak it even more.

Nice work in finding someone to work with you guys. I will see if i c an use him on my VW converter as well. I could surely use another 700 rpm myself.
