I'll let Bill or Sam talk about the European teams. We didn't have much success with Sam's new rear brake system. We had rubs, binds, and finally a lack of master cylinder pressure. It's off of the bike. Sam got in one 12 second time trial for the day. We're back at it tomorrow starting at 8:30. It's after 10 and we're off to supper.

Here's what everybody is waiting for - years in the making.  Valdosta Georgia Manufacturer's Cup Street ET first round results:


Sam's holding a first round WINNING time slip where he ran a 12.403 pass on his 12.40 dial-in. To prove that it wasn't a fluke, in the second round he ran a 12.41 ET on the brakes at the finish line against his 12.38 dial-in for his second win slip. In the third round, Sam threw down a .004 reaction time (.000 is perfect) against stiff competition. Unfortunately, the front brake dragged, slowing him down against his dial-in and losing the race. We went out to celebrate and I just got in (almost midnight here) We're racing another Street ET event tomorrow if we can find the brake problem. More videos and pictures from the team as we have the time.

SAM: Great job on dial-ins and with those RT  you and the Hondamatic will be hard to beat at the 12" line of 1320'.  How did you hold the bike back from pulling thru for a red eye if the NEW braking system did not work as planned ? Looks like you had both feet on the ground at launch time with no rear brake foot lever. GOOD LUCK SUNDAY and hoping you ride back the return road with many win tickets in hand and a big smile on your face.

I'm back in Atlanta and Mike and Jack are at the airport. The crew split up around 11am this morning with Sam and Bill in the staging lines for round 1. During qualifying runs Sam red lighted with a dial in 11.58 12.58 run of 11.58 12.58 and change then Bill lit up his new turbo by beating a GS1150 (?) HEADS UP to get a 11.49. Bill had to make up a ~25' or so deficit by spooling up the turbo to 15lb in 3rd or 4th to pull ahead for the win.

More pictures will follow. Sam didn't stop his win streak with Saturday's racing. First round of Street ET today, Sam had an .022 reaction time and forced his opponent into breaking out (by .005) to get by him at the finish line. Lots of big time racing eliminators during the day. Second round was about 6 pm. Sam decided that food, sleep, and sleep were good alternatives. We called it a day about 5:30 pm. The Spiderman in Top Fuel bike ran a 5.83 pass winning the first round. Lots of personal bests at that event. We're eating at a normal time tonight. If we had stayed, we would have been there very late.
     Pops, we used the old rear brake system with the left handlebar control. We kept the revs down so that the bike wouldn't pull through the beams. Sam did a great job of driving. 3 round wins and a mechanical loss for his efforts. My small contribution were the dial-ins. The bike ran both days from 12.61 first pass when cold to a best of 12.40 when it got warmed up. There's a lot left for when the rear brake system gets working correctly. It has 11.9XX potential.
     Other points of interest included other racers requesting that Sam not line up next to them in the staging lane in today's contest. The bike and drivers are getting a local reputation. The oldest bike of the 700+ registered in competition has shown that old slow bikes are sometimes something to be avoided.
     There's another story line coming concerning RC jr, restorations of Russ Collins drag bikes, and another RC bike that has shown up being owned by a gentleman who stopped by our trailer during the day. It's going to get much more interesting.....
     A parting detail we got on our way out. The Manufacturer's Cup race series is expanding next year to include Virginia in June. Indy stays in August, and Valdosta gets April and November. There might be another Hondamatic or two in Virginia in June next year.....?
